What are the best shift points for the RC SRT-10. I know the best RPM's will be different for each gear, does anyone have dyno info on where the motor makes the most power at the right RPM?

Every vehicle will differ...the best way to find your tq curve is to get it dyno'd then program your shift light off of the data received. Some drop after 5400 some ride it to 6k....kinda depends on the truck, each one is different.

Most trucks make max rwhp at just over 5500...a lot depends on the mods you have. I set my shift light at 5300 to try to get to the next gear before I hit the rev limiter...but I have a very fast reving motor due to light weight Fidanza flywheel, and 5.6 lbs of boost.

When I drag raced mine earlier this year I was shifting at 5600 rpm...generally peaking the hp range. I was then told to try and shift closer to 6K rpm (from a friend who's drag raced quite a while). When I did I dropped maybe a 1/2 second and gained 4 mph. Basically (Paxton related) when I shifted I dropped to a higher rpm which had higher boost for acceleration. So, I'm shooting for my shift points as close to 6K as possible.

You are supposed to go as close to 6k as you can... even if you shift when the engine is making its peak HP... when you shift... you are just at a lower RPM in the next gear making it harder for the engine to pull it.

I shift so close to 6K that I somtimes hit the limiter :)

If its stock set your shift light for around 56-5800rpms, when the light pops shift, by the time you see the light and actually shift you will be close to 5900-6000rpms.

If your dyno reads peak at 5500rpms set your light for around 5600, so that by the time you shift you should be closer to 5800-5900 rpms,

You actually need to be jsut a tad above your peak hp curve.

Jack knows more, maybe he will chime in:D

I have been lowering my shift light to avoid hitting the rev limiter. With the lightweight flywheel and the rapid rap of the Roe SC I think I will end up with the shift light at 52 or 5300...much more testing necessary at this point. The other problem that I think only slicks will solve is that when hitting a gear hard the wheel spin is so severe that you can hit the rev limiter very quickly, so not only have I lost grip, I also have the rev limiter kick-in...hence 1/2 to 3/4 sec loss, maybe more.

Would like to re-open the discussion about light vrs. heavy flywheel under boosted situations!

My truck is normally aspirated with just bolt ons. I got my best 1/4 ET by shifting at 5500. I ran 2 tenths quicker than when I shifted at 5900 to 6000.;)

I can only imagine how fast your rpms are going up Prof!!!! With my Fidanza and 4.88 gears they shoot up way faster than when stock. Of course all the wheel spin in first then into second doesnt help either!!!:dontknow:

We have to get our arms around this wheel spin issue. NBT said that Roe is working on something...
