Best tuner for stock QC truck?

Has anyone made a smoothed homemade tube going from the factory filter to the throttle body?
 
get a stage II and keep the stocker.Takes 5 minutes to change it back to stock for towing and dealer visits.I have had mine in for a couple years and its worked out great!!
 
Ok, so if I decide to go the Stage II route... is this just a standard tune for these trucks? If so, who is doing the programming? Do plenty of vendors sell a Stage II? What exactly does a Stage II for a QC do?

As far as guys who tune these trucks, I'm hearing several names... Marty, Torrie, Sean. I'm obviously very new to this, so I'm ignorant on who to work with.

I understand if some of you would rather not step on someone else's toes, so please PM me if you have advice to give that you'd rather keep out of the public eye.

Sorry for all the newbie questions.
 
SCT still cannot data log in the Viper application. Supposedly they are working on it but I am done holding my breath and waiting. I think this is why some people have been having trouble with their SCT tunes, some guys were tuning them blind. That's less of an issue with a stock motor but for forced induction or nitrous applications that's playing with fire. I think I'm going to send mine back.

I originally went with SCT because I have a quad cab. Currently SCT is the only tuning software that allows you to adjust the shift points for the tranny in the program. I also liked that I could easily change from my daily driver tune to full on race tune with nitrous and C16. Their lack of customer service in my experience has really turned me off. My tuner who uses them with great success with Mustangs has been surprised and disappointed as well.

Can it be made to work, sure. Are there better choices right now, definitely.
 
I'm a SCT fan from my experience with them on the Ford diesel side of the house. I use Eric from Innovative Diesel for my tunes on my 6.0 Powerstroke and couldn't be happier. If I change my mods I'll have a re-written tune (for the bubble) within a day, usually within a few hours.

I have a "re-cycled" SCT for my QC with 91/93 Octane tunes that Marty/KRC did. I haven't dyno'd it yet (but will soon) but the difference is ginormous (hey, that's real word). I've never had a problem loading a tune or returning to stock and have done it a ton of times.

You can't go wrong with a Stage II, just keep your stock PCM in your glovebox or something in case you need to go back to stock. I believe that because of the nature of the VEC you don't have the same option, but if you're going F/I or nitrous (or even thinking about it) the VEC is the way to go. If you're a bolt on guy (intake, exhaust, maybe headers) an SCT with good tunes (I'd go with Sean Roe if starting from scratch) would serve you well.

Guys I tell you what, I am working with Torrie now to hopefully offer you guys the SCT with a tune, not sure as of yet, but we are in discussion about it:)
 
I've got a brand spankin new SCT... I don't even think it has any tunes loaded in it... somewhere around here:confused:. Once I find it, it'll be in the Buy/Sell section

I second this opinion.DC Performance in California does GREAT Stage II tunes !

There are others,but I personally prefer Dan Cragins tune.

I have a QC with just a volant intake. I will be doing DC Performance flash. (Thanks again silversrt and hotram for the advice):rock: :rock: :rock: :rock:
 
well that is what you told me but alot of the guys had to send their computer back multiple times. As you know it is my daily driver so I can't keep sending it back. That is all I was concered about.
 
hmmmm hadnt heard of anyone sending theres back? now I would go only with the 91 octane tune...the 93 is a littel finicky:)
 
OK me dumb. Isn't the factory tune 91??? I thought I wanted 93??? Is the tune on my QC to mainly get rid of the torque restriction due to the auto??? I thought I understood but now I feel.......um lost:stupido3: :stupido3: :stupido3: :stupido3: :stupido3: :hmmmm: :hmmmm: :hmmmm: :hmmmm:
 
either one takes care of the trq management, both also do some rpm issues, tranny issues, and cooling fan issues, all they do on a 91 vs 93 is bump the timing down a couple degrees, maybe 10hp difference in the two:)
 
Ooooohhhhhhhh I see. Do I want to change the rpm's higher or just keep them the same. Didn't you tell me that 6200 you won't get any benefit (for my app at least)?

hp starts falling off around the 4800-5200 rpm range, so a 5800-6000 limit isnt going to hurt things:)
 
I dont know what I would do without ya. Oh if it ain't to cold tomorrow, I think I am going to do the tail light painting with the tint I got from you. Can't wait. Hope I get some North Cackilacky sunshine.
 
I know mine was done by B & G, and no problems after almost 4 years.
