DAMN! That's a LOT for that trailer! I'm surprised you made it home. Not to mention the 'Burban! :dontknow:

I'm all for using up the safety factor if need be, but I can see the ad for the trailer now:

Gently used trailer
New tires
new springs
new axle

The frame has a slight bow to it but that's to retain your load more efficiently. Please contact...

Hey Scoob, got a question. My location is at 617 N. Main St here in Cleburne, TX. My streets hwy name is Hwy 174. I am gonna tell you, I have seen some absolutely massive loads come through here, and tons and tons and TONS of "oversize load" trucks. They pass by at a rate of about 3 an hour. Why is that my street at my location has so many. Could it be some kind of oversize load route that trucks must keep to?

I am serious when I tell you I see stuff that would absolutely freak you out. One day soon after Katrina there was a load that had 2 semis in front pulling side-by-side, and a weird looking semi in the back pushing. I counted like 162 or so wheels on the entire set-up. I have seen street crews have to remove every power wire, and swing every stop light on my street out of the way numerous times for loads that had to have been 30 ft high. I've seen the street closed the entire day as the trucks took all 4 lanes. This particular load was 2 Huge concrete box-shaped things that took ALL DAY to get down a 2-Mile street. The workers with the trucks told me they were on their way from Tulsa, OK to New Orleans. Tulsa is a 6 hour drive from here, and they told me they had left something like 2 or 3 days ago, and were just now to Cleburne. This was a very strange & out of the way route, so there must me some roads that are designated for wide loads.

We also see a ton of those wings for the giant windmill generators which are really long when you see them in real life. Also some of the yachts that have come through here would blow your mind. Anyway, This wide load regularity has been going on for about 6 or 7 years now, and I was just wondering what the deal was?

most likely by what you describe there is a bridge that is low.
not knowing your area but looking at the map, perhaps 35W has a low bridge?

the katrina loads were high priority loads. i had some friends that were on some, there was no hesitation to hand out permits like Halloween candy after it hit. there were also some bridge strikes because of it. but i believe that is what your looking at.
a few tips for your safety:
look both ways before you pull out, it would not be the first time i was driving down the wrong side of the road and had someone pull out in front of me.
if your cable or telephone wires cross the road have the cable and phone company's install them higher if they droop. i have pulled down tele and tv wires, and do about 1 per week. here in the north east we are not liable if the wire is below 15'8".

TEXAS. i have been there ONE time. loads have to be huge to have escorts, and the fine to get cough running without one is $250 in texas, that's way cheaper then if they hire one. just be careful.

here is a kinda out dated but good site for photos.

they carry the HUGE stuff. only up to 500tons thou.

i might be on a huge move thru out the winter!
just got word yesterday that we will be moving 20' wide loads across NY at night. suposta start Monday, if it does look for photos here by Wednesday!
i have been told such things before just to not have them pan out, but he seemed real confident in the fact that they are asking for 9 committed cars for Monday.

train conclusion.
didn't post these yet but meant too.
after sitting almost 2 months waiting on permits we delivered it. here are the photos from the last leg of the journey.

very unspectacular ending. no one was even there to meet us. compared to the send off of the entire town being there!

got the permit sent to me today, widest load i have ever done!!!!! previous was 19'.

this apparently is generator parts for the new 635 megawatt natural gas fired power plant in RENSSELAER NY.
