bleeding the clutch

Anyone on here tried a reverse bleeder and how did it work?

And then does anyone have directions on how to do it without the reverse bleeder?
Pictures would be awesome cause idk where the bleeder is or what it looks like :rock:
 
It's the only 11mm nut looking nipple coming out next to line on driver side of tranny. Fill reservoir, pump pedal 10 times then hold clutch (someone hold clutch) while you open and shut bleeder. Fluid/air will come out. Repeat about 5 times. Always keep reservoir full

It's like bleeding brakes. Pump the clutch a bunch of times, hold it the clutch pressed, crack the bleeder open, close, let go of clutch and repeat until it's firm. Then do it a few more times to make sure.

It's easy. If the fluid is completely drained, then it does take a good while but dont give up.
 
So if its done enough times this will also flush the system with all the new fluid you are adding????? Keep doing till it comes out clean/clear??
 
Make sure when you are pumping the pedal it is slow and steady, if you pump it like your bleeding brakes you will end up with a million tiny air bubbles....and hawk, yes you can bleed to clear the old fluid out...I use a turkey baster and suck the res out every oil change much easier...

You can do it yourself. Just need a spare car battery to hold the clutch in. Same steps. Just slide the car battery over to hold the clutch down while you tighten the nut.
 
Or if your by yourself just gravity bleed it....pump up slow and steady 2-3 times...then use a stick to push the clutch pedal down, and hold it there over night..with the bleeder cracked..

Yes. That is why you have to keep an eye on the reservoir, as you bleed the system. The reservoir fluid replaces the fluid you bled out.
 
I use the turkey baster too. I don't want the dirty, moisture rich fluid contaminating the inside of line any more than it has already at this point. Remove fluid in reservoir, add new fluid, bleed clutch.
I also use the one man approach and use a 2x4 and power seat to hold pedal down while bleeding. Use a towel between 2x4 and seat to protect. Don't think you'll do it in 10 minutes.!! Bubbles often hide in the line or master and have to be bled out slave nipple. Set an hour aside to do this. Repeat 8-10 times. :rock:
 
If you take a turkey baster or anything that can suck fluid out the resi, every week or two you can take the fluid out of the resi(but dont go too low and let it catch air) and replace it with new one. That will keep the clutch fluid clean. When it gets dirty, the clutch doesnt release as easy. Careful not to get fluid on any painted surface, it will eat it up.
 
Any DOT4 fluid or is there any one better than the other???

I use the cheap stuff in the blue jug from walmart. clutch/brake fluid is just basically hydraulic fluid. Since i chance mine out so much, im not spending more than i have to.:dontknow:

Ill take doing that rather than messing with ATF fluid. Good god that stuff smells like musky back side.
 
I have only ever used DOT4. Seems like there was issue with DOT 5 incompatibility with 3 or 4. It will eat seals and deteriorate hydraulic system. Basically the fluids won't mix I think it was. They'll congeal and clog as well.

4 has a much higher boiling point than 3 so it does indeed help. I use Prestone and has been great.
 
I was not aware of the higher boiling point. Thanks. I will look into which i have an change if it isnt the later version. I needa man up and buy a twin disk....or work out my legs more :(
