My truck just came with it.. I ordered it with the Hands Free and Sirius Sat Package... so I am unsure if you can order the mirror kit separately... you might be able to order the parts from Dragon...but I would not begin to know where to tell you what specific components you would need to make it all work, and have it hook as it does into the CAN BUS system our trucks are using.... because it also displays on the NAV radio the phone number your dialing, etc..

That's the aftermarket version.

The one that comes pre-installed in vehicles is done at the factory.
That factory-installed version is not available as an aftermarket item, even from Dodge.

shit that sucks

I'm not sure. I have the factory one (that does display name/number).

You'd have to check the manual or ask someone who's installed the after-factory one.

Are you positive on that?:dontknow: My dealer quoted me around $500 for the U-Connect for my truck and I think it was an hour or two for labor.

Hell, they have brocheres saying it can be added as an option now that I think about it.

the mirror u-connect can be added---however you need to chage your dash harness and buy a mirror and u-connect module. I'm in the process of adding mine, I'll let you know how it comes out

if your adding this to the 2005 it will most likley be diffrent for the 2006 truck that he wants to install it being the can-bus set up. im sure it can be done but all the work on figruing it out is the tought part.

I was going by what was told to me on the NFFF a while ago.
Plus, I've never seen a post-purchase install of the factory one.

Yet. :D

I'll bet you a single bunch of bananas that the dealer was going to install the aftermarket unit.
How can I tell? "an hour or two of labor".

MoparConnection- I'm sure a DIY write-up would be VERY popular here. :)

Speaking of bluetooth, are there updates for this system? I know only certain phones mesh with it.

Meaning if I get a new phone, would it still connect to the Uconnect?

From the FAQ page on the UConnect site.:

"7. What kind of phone will work with UConnect® Hands-Free Communication?
- A BluetoothTM Hands-Free Profile Wireless Phone.
"

There's also a list of phones that they, personally, have tested.
IIRC, if you have a phone with Bluetooth v2.0, it will work with UConnect.

Thanks for the 411!!

It would have been way to simple for me to look myself. :D
