Hey guys, im new to the forums and plan on here real soon becoming an honored owner of an SRT 10. I have always loved the trucks since they first came out but just now have finally got to a point to where I can become an owner of one of these rare trucks. My question is this...I have heard alot of sound clips of different 10's and heard alot of different reviews on full exhausts but which one is actually the best for these trucks? Everyone raves about Borla and Billy Boat which have good reviews but I would want one that has a real deep tone without being raspy. I would also like it to be loud but not so loud that I couldnt still carry on a conversation inside of the truck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's all personal opinion. Everyone is going to say something different. Also depends on budget as Billy boat is really proud of his stuff. I am going to try 3-4 sets of mufflers befor I make my decision on what I really like. Good luck

Thanks bmxam962, let me know what you come up with. Still need to get back with you on that 04. Probably be a month or so before im ready for any kind of purchase.

I had a Magna-Blow on my truck and then switched to Borla. The truck is quiet in normal driving, but picks up when you get into it. Here are a couple of clips of mine;

Oldcolt, does it have a deep tone rather than the high pitched tone that it sounds like in the video clips? Trust me, I know it's hard to judge anything from a video clip cause it really never does the sound justice. Sounds really awesome at idle though and I noticed that you're post on the youtube clips say you have the striker heads and cam...am I understanding correctly that those are no longer available for purchase anymore??

The Magnablow will give you a deeper tone. I, (like others), blew a hole in mine. It does not sound like a V8, if that is what you are after. Truly it sounds like a viper. Scott has a system that he sells, have you listen to his clips?
Striker heads are no longer being produced. They are fantastic heads though!

Im new to the forum so I dont know anyone on here...would like to hear scotts setup though. If there are alot of problems with magnaflow then I for sure don't want to go that route. I completely understand that a V10 wont sound anything like a V8 nor would I want it to. I just want to get the deepest tone possible with little to no raspyness...and would love it to be loud enough that it turns heads when people hear it coming.

Also oldcolt, since they are no longer producing the Striker heads and cam, do you know of any head and cam packages that are somewhat comparable to the Striker?

That is really hard to compare heads like that. Jtsvp is offering a ported head and cam package that have made good power.

Yea I saw the JTSVP package which def looks promising. Why did Striker discontinue their heads and cam?

Scott is a vendor on this site. Here is a link;

MOPAR sells a Gen 4 conversion. The price has come down on it, but in the end it will be quite a few bucks (different headers etc.). You can have your Gen 3 heads ported to give you more power.
The thing to keep in mind is the stock internals are not forged, so if you want to supercharge or go nuts with spray, it will only be a matter of time before the engine blows. Low boost (6psi-ish) and 100/150 shot seem to do ok.

Long story....but you have to realize that there were only so many Gen 3 Viper engines produced, so it is a very limited market. If I had to guess, I would say there are under 100 Street Striker sets of heads out there.....even fewer Striker R's.

That is for sure an awesome sounding exhaust. I may have to look into that and contact Scott about some info on it. Thanks for the link. That def makes sense about the heads and sounds like there is only a few out there with some wicked heads on their truck. I really think I would rather keep the truck NA and maybe down the road go SC so I could keep up with my buddies built Lightning. So basically if I wanted to ever go all out on a big supercharger then to be safe I would need to go with all forged internals? Seems like it would be very expensive to go SC and ensure that I would have a sound internal system that I wouldn't have to worry about any problems with.

Once you have "some power" you will want "more power"! That's when you can get into trouble. I should mention tuning is key. Chris Jensen and Torrie are the best tuners for our trucks IMO. Two of the big builds going on now will have Chris dyno tuning: Dom's twin turbo Striker R build and Trainman's Gen 4 stroker build.
When we did the Striker cam, paired with my stock heads, I raced a modded Lightning and beat him 2 for 2. That was with rottenronnie as a passenger and 3/4 tank of gas. No video, but lots of smiles (from my cab). :D

I agree once you add some power it only continues. My build is on going and basically ha do to with what old colt is talking about.

Thanks Oldcolt! And welcome Viper83101, I'd be glad to help you with making your Viper Truck sound beast once you get her. ;)

Haha thats awesome oldcolt...I bet the driver of the lightning was looking all confused when it was over with. My friends lightning though is heavily modded through an all out race type build. Still street legal but probably pushing close to 600 to the tires which for a lightning makes them extremely fast. Hes probably doing low to mid 11's at worst. I would love to whoop his ass one good time though in one of these trucks so I will probably be talking to yall about some good mods if the cards fall right for me to get a 10. Thanks Venemous1 and if the stars align and I can get one here soon, you will be my first stop as far as talking to you about an exhaust system. Im just trying now to do my research and talk to all you Viper experts so I can get some ideas of stuff that I know I want to do that way when I get her I can be ready to go.

Congrats on the purchase. I've recently purchased one...waiting on cross country transport. I'm Def interested in the same things as you. Mine has a factory mopar/borla exhaust on it. I'll upload a video when it gets here so you can hear it alone...With no other mods

Sounds good NightRunner and congrats on the purchase. I actually haven't got one yet, just doing some preliminary research on different mods but hoping to be a proud owner of a 10 in another month or 2. I would def like to hear you're exhaust when you get it so will be looking forward to it.
