Before I moved to CO from VA I did a brake job on my 10, all new rotors and pads. Prior to the brake job I've had an intermittent red brake light indication on the dash.

The frequency of the red brake light was maybe once a week at best. Now the frequency is everyday. Now I have excessive travel in order to get the truck stopped. With the engine off the pedal is firm, per the Haynes Manual. Upon starting the peddle travel should go down slightly, mine goes damn near to the floor.

I had the brakes power bled last week, so fluid level is good. So I am thinking three items. Stuck piston, bad master cylinder or bad brake booster. There are no codes at all when the red brake light indication comes on.

I'd like to hear opinions, it's going to the shop tomorrow for diagnose & repair at the local brake shop.

Air in there .. Bad master good possibility; Look for leaks and check the master fluid again .

Personally I would try bleeding the brakes , starting at the furthest point and working back to the master cylinder ... See if you have bubbles coming out of the bleeders.. Air in the lines may be the cause.... But does sound like a bad Master cylinder !

Can you pump the brakes and get a firmer pedal ? Does the pedal slowly go down after pumping it ?

After pumping stays firm for a second then goes to the floor almost instantly. Did a brake check @ 50 mph took forever to get stopped. All rotors were hot so I assume the pistons work.

I would venture a guess it is a faulty master cylinder .

Yeah I've done some more reading and I'll place my money on the master cylinder having an internal leak.

Well dropped her off at brakes plus this morning with a red brake light indication and a peddle that could go to the floor. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG! WTF! So needless to say I am going to have to do it my damn self. They did a good job on my alignment. They didn't charge me for troubleshooting the brakes, but I am disappointed that I know there is still a problem.

After much reading last night, I am convinced it is an internal leak on the master cylinder.

So far, everything that you've described is point to the master.

yeah brake booster tends to do the opposite (just replaced mine last summer) brake went to like a brick and had to pretty much stand on it (was hard as hell no move what so ever) and put my weight down to get the truck to stop. turned out being my brake booster had gone bad.
