I met a gentleman in Greer, S.C. recently that specializes in Drilling and Slotting Brake Rotors. Your gonna love this, he is one of the few in the country that can ENGRAVE your new rotors. He will engrave anything you want on your rotors. He does a lot of work for the BMW plant there and also many custom motorcycle builders. You furnish New rotors, or rotors with less than 100 miles on them that havent been super hot yet and he will drill and slot or engrave them the way you want. Would it look cool to have the SRT-10 logo engraved all the way around the rotors!!
You can contact him @ 804-877-3700 his name is Chuck Hembree the Co. name is Hi Tec Tool

By the way, he only charges 35.00 ea. to drill or slot your rotors

With prices like that he needs to become a supporting vendor. He'd make a killing around here.

Probably be a cool mod for a showpiece......not for a DD though.....:burnout:

Are you going to get yours done with the engraving? Here's an idea for you. Get your rotors done and post some pics. If the forum likes it maybe we can arrange for a group buy at a discounted price.

Anybody interested in this idea?

Brad

guys I run a Machine shop and we have done a couple of
sets of rotors for my Roush. It is easy to do but when
you get into the big time engraving you loose lots of
Stopping power. Then you mash harder then they start
cracking. I never had one brake. I will try to dig up
pictures.

He says they must be NEW rotors or very low mile units that havent built a lot of heat otherwise you could have some cracking problems.

How much do it cost to get the 4 new stock rotors plus get it drill and slot from him?

R2S has a point. If you remove to much of the friction surface through slotted, cross drilled, or engraving, you reduce the effective surface area that the brake pad can work with.

The idea behind a slotted rotor is to allow gas to escape that is generated when the pad is in contact with the rotor. The cross drilling also allows the gas to escape and aids in the cooling. Both of these, when done correctly can improve the performance of the braking system. When done incorrectly they can cause a critical failure of the rotor.

Personally, unless you have a show vehicle where you remove the tire and wheel to show the suspension components, I would stay away from the engraving.

cross drilled and slotted look cool, but i'll never put them on a daily driver again ... and especially not on a 5000+ lb truck. even the best cross drilled and/or slotted rotors develop cracks over time.
