Buick Regal Crash

To quote Brad, "with great power comes great responsibility", or something like that.;) :D

My Cobra weights approximately 2550 to 2600 pounds and has around 600 HP. This is in a 90 wheel base car. I treat her with the greatest respect, because I know she can kill me if I f*ck up.

As a GM G-Body enthusiast, it hurts. I think that the slow motion and sad music makes it feel even worse. Glad to see the driver walked away fine. :congrats:

It saddens me to see these crashes but makes me feel happy that there are safeguards for people to follow to race legally and live to race another day. It's videos like these that make us think we need roll cages. I am extremely happy that Dom is putting in a roll cage in his.

His Wife is going to take away his keys........

Off topic but,

How can a superformance weigh ~2500 lb's, my old shell valley cobra was in the 1900's or so the track scales said. no where near as plush but is there relly 600 or so pounds of interior in those things.

I admit mine was a little scary to launch. We need a cobra/kit thread.

I said 2550 to 2600, not 2500. Don't put word in my mouth.

What is the approximate mph of buick drag car, upon loss of control ?

I went back and watched the video from the starting line, and he was approximately 4 seconds into the run. Based on that, I would guess he was in the 70 to 85 MPH range.

It had rained that morning and this was the 3rd run after the track prep. If you notice in the second vid the car just before him ran 8.56 over 160. I think he had been in the 8's already. The guy has been racing Buicks for a while. These cars really haul mid track.
