Today i was in the shop to install the Bump Steer Kit from Tony's , and first impressions are good , also replaced the steering rack bushings , now steering is much firmer and bump steer is almost gone.:)
tyvm Tony and JTSVenom Performance

Now , the guys at my shop did not replace the upper control arm bushings , because they where afraid that the sleeves in the bushings gonna get damage when compressed them out.
There are no replace sleeves in the kit(bag) for the new poly urithane bushings...:dontknow:
I guess it called sleeves , i mean the metal pipes that goes in the bushing...

The leaf spring bushings gonna have to waith untill my B&B catback arrives , because the catback needs to remove for replace the leaf spring bushings.
Then we noticed that not all the leaf spring bushings can replaced , the ones that are replaced for the Caltracks are not the same according my guys at the shop.

Not sure on the sleeves but the kit I just sold had them in the bag with the bushings from energy suspension. ......

anyone else got some input after 2 days since this post...:dontknow:

Are you talking about the piece that goes between the bolt & the bushing?
How about calling Tony or Energy Suspension?

had to reuse my sleeves on the upper & lower A-arms.

burned/melted the OEM rubber out. the sleeve usually shoots out. so careful whar ya have it aimed, lol.

clean the sleeves. wire brushed the inside of the shells & reassembled.

all the rear spring bushins can be replaced.

if ya goin with Cal Tracs, just use an air hammer to remove the whole front bushin, clean & install the aluminum bushin.

the rears can be done like the front A-arm bushins

Seen your post on one of my threads about not getting an answer to your question. Glad you finally got a post that will help you out.

U have the bumpsteer kit and all bushings. Havnt installed them yet. I was wondering if I my qc has to be lowered in order to Install bumpsteer ?

Just heard from E that one of his bumpsteer bolts snapped off.
Is this a quality issue ? His snapped Off in a parking lot, dont want
to know what would happen if you are at a higher speed.....

I would say yes it must be lowered. You should not have a bump steer problem if your suspension is all stock & in good condition. From what I understand the idea of moving the link below the knuckle is to keep it on a more level plane like stock.

My kit has about 1000 miles on it. So far so good.

hope thats not gonna happen , now and then my wife and kids drive along...
i check the kit every couple weeks , and it looks good.
it work very good too , almost no bump steer anymore.

is there anything else to eliminate bumpsteer on our lowered rigs...?

Maybe a set of steering knuckles that moves the mounting point down so the stock and outer tie rod can be used.

Viperpowerd told me about someone that had a set loosen up on him. So far so good on mine thank God.
Besides bump steer my toe was out causing my new tires to Featheridge. That's why went with the kit.

I was very lucky for it to break where it did. If it broke on the highway I would have been fucked. I don't know what really cause it. But all I was doing was backing up into a parking spot when it snapped. Earlier in the afternoon I did a small autocross course at a local good guy event. Don't know if it was the extra stress from that cause it to snapped. Lucky I still had the stock ones at the house.

I know what you're saying. I drove over (slow and easy) a 4 inch curb with my 79 Power Wagon pulling into the lot where I worked. One of the outer tie rod end threads pulled out of the tube that goes between the two steering knuckles. Just got back from Daytona Florida bike week a few days earlier. I would've been as you say FUCKED if that let loose on the road!

What about just reverse reaming the tie rod mount and just flip the stock tie rod?

Would need to know what reamer to buy.

Anybody know the taper of the stock ream?

This seems like a good solution. The taper of the stock joints should be listed in the Moog catalog.

Moog catalog - get the taper angle, post it up for all to see.:)
