so im installing my brand new venom series jtsvp shifter and when i took the base off the tranny there was black, burnt smelling fluid in there.

my tranny operates just fine, no slippin or anything like that. but should i worry or is this normal?

32k miles and dont know when the last tranny service was, if ever

Do i just need to get the trany serviced, or should i be worried?

thnx

I would just change the fluid...it's really easy. I used the original fluid because I have extended warranty others use Mobil 1 ATF.

It is just a drain and fill on a manual.,. Do it yourself and save very easy!

well its in. i knew my handle was not gunna be here yet, but figured i could install the base and erthing and put my oem handle back on till i got the new one. well the bolts dont matchup so the truck will be in the garage till i get my new handle.

i will say the shifter was a breeze to install. my 06 needed a little more work cuz the way the center counsole is set up, and it still only took maybe an hour to install. and that incuded cleaning the entire counsole area. i did play around with it a little trying to set it as loose as i can and still leave the right side a hair tighter for thos 2-3 shifts. think i got it dialed in but will really know when i get her on the road. so far erthing looks top-notch.

Stink really outdid himself on ths one.
