Busted Bolt, Need Some Help

if there is ANYTHING of the bolt left, you can try this. do what you did with the dremel on the bolt itself, cut a grove for a screw driver. go down to your local staples or office max and get a can of their keyboard cleaner. It is just pressurized co2. Take that and spray the whole can on the bolt itself. What this will do is shrink the bolt away from the aluminum and loosen it up and hoefully the screwdriver will easily take it out. I have done this a dozen times worked 75% of the time for me. Hope this helps

Bolt was toast. Had already broke two extractors in it and had attempted to bore it out to no avail. It beat me. Had it towed to the dealer. I hate to admit defeat but I was afraid of screwing up the head and decided to err on the side of caution before I was looking at getting a new head if I punctured the water jacket. The tech was telling me the tolerances are pretty tight so, as they shit happens. I had a couple things for them to look at anyway so the trip to the dealer was not a total waste.

kinda of off topic but I forget the stock intake is a bitch compared to the one that comes with the roe, can have the whole thing off in a 1/2-45 mins thats why I stopped myself from just saying take the head off:eek: maybe that is something you guys could bring up to him. An after market intake based on the s/c one. Be surprised how fast and easy you can get everything off without that fringin stock intake being in the way. Oh well at least it is getting done now imagine doing that shit at least once or twice a week:dontknow: loose a whole day on 1 or 2 bolts.

Its just money right? Who wants to keep that!? This truck sometime makes me feel like I'm in that commercial where they bring bags of money out for the trash...

Still love havin it though.

My uncle has a set of reverse drill bits, they normaly just grab on and pull it out when you drill it. No easy out needed.

That sucks with my luck the bolt would snap also....now when I do mine I'm going with grade 9!

Tech fixed it. Broke 5 drill bits in the process and rigged up some kind of bolt to put in there. He said he had a problem with the thread count when he put the Heli-Coil in. I just pray to God I do not have to take them off again. The head on the bolt is like 3/4 inch.

Whatever, it has a where's Waldo looking bolt in it and she is back on the road.
