CAI - Volant vs K&N?

I know one of our members had a Volant for a while then he happily GAVE it away.... And it wasn't the one SRT10VENOMOUS received for free. Nuff said.

who me????????:elefant:

I first put in the K&N drop in after reading suggestions from this board and really did not notice anything from it. I then Bought a used volant from a forum member. Install was not bad. And there was a noticable differance in hp over the k&n drop in.

On another note. The 36 hp that is claimed by volant is most likely at the crank and not the wheel.

I didn't say I believed them I just said that is were they probably took the hp readings from. If you were a aftermarket company your going to pull the #'s from the spot that makes it seem allot better than it may really be.

Volant

Cant,do a scientific comparison, but I have the volant I love it no probs, did a dyno day pulled second best hp with about 10-12 other trucks against fully bolted na mtrs, only other mod was a gibson cat back, but i must say that jmb set up is very clean if i didnt already have the volant i would def get his cai.good luck with the desicion, ohh and Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year, and that goes for everyone who reads this reply.:D:D

IMHO, Volant defeats the purpose of the hood bulge. It is a ram air that is designed to cool the engine compartment / engine. The amount of cold air being forced into the volant then through its system, then into the intake seems kinda crazy to me. Most of the cold air brought into the engine compartment is through the lower grille. The hood bulge acutally allows hot air out when you are sitting at idle. There is alot of heat generated by these things.....

I went with Justins CAI for 2 reasons. It sounds better than stock, and looks better than stock. The catch can is a great addition and you can pick your colors. Performance, :dontknow: bling, :D :D :D

I have been debating the same thing as Carlwalski here...Volant? K&N? what to do? After reading this post and searching many others on here I am going to go with the drop in as I have had a K&N stock replacement in every vehicle I ever owned and they have not let me down yet. I am not looking to put much mods into my SRT-10 as I have other things that take priority in life right now so the drop in will do just fine! Thanks guys for the info.

has anybody ever seen the Mopar hood scope intake set up. have heard of it never seen or heard about it

Thanks guys, just to confirm I went with Justin's CAI kit with additional oil catch can. :)

wise decision. it works well, looks the best, installs easily, the price is right, and Justin is a great guy.
