Which cam would work well with the dc stage 2 flash for a quad cab?. nothing extreme, just a slight lope at idle. Also, how much would it cost to install? thanks

Does Dan have you on a commission plan yet??? He sure should have....;) :p :D

LOL 15% Cut off the sales would be nice! :)

Youre not gonna get much from just a cam.....I would recommend getting your heads ported and polished, AND the Comp Coupe cam, with a Chris Jensen custom dyno tune. You would be looking at about a 100 rwhp gain from that. I think a few people did the cam only and got about 8 rwhp gained.....not worth the money.

I believe Comp cams makes one that'll net you 25-35 rwhp with just cam/pushrods and tune.;)

Thats what they said about the one I described....BUT real results were 8 rwhp...Now , keep in mind I DID NOT do this myself. Just passin along the info. I think you could get 25 rwhp JUST from the dyno tune itself....If you search on the NFFF I think it comes up under Comp Cam on the search. For example tho...Need4speed just did his Heads...NO CAM and got 60 RWHP...

Hell, you could net 25-35 with a great tune alone. The cam might just be along for the ride.:p

I am talking about tuning in the cam, LOL. I already have a stage II tune. Throwing in a cam and not tuning for it wouldn't make any sense to me.

Oh, absolutely. I certainly wasn't suggesting that you or anyone wouldn't re-tune after a cam installation.

What I was trying to get across is that someone who was otherwise stock, who only did a cam and tune, that it would be the tuning that would bring in the lion's share of the HP gain. You already having a flash means that this doesn't really apply to you. My comment was in response to the gains reported on cam & tune alone.;)

I want a cam just for the added lope! Headers and mids made me hear the slight lope the engine has....but i want more lope! lope......lope.................lope....lope...........................................lope............etc

the 708 mopar coupe cam is a good drop in and is still compatible with the ecm being flashed, and comp cams makes a 3314, and a 3316 grind.
dont install just a cam, make sure to upgrade at least the pushrods, if not to roller rockers. the pushrods will net as much as a cam as the stock pushrods flex under rpm above 5000 and add boost or nitrous and they get worse. i have dropped in pushrods at the dyno and picked up another 12 hp.
our stage 2 flash, (with 93 octane) will work perfect with a 708 cam with no changes needed to the tune, except in EXTREME cases with other mods like head work.

How many different versions of upgraded cams are available for our application? Just curious as I want to firm up the innards, so far Mopar Cam replacement is looking like the only choice (if available).

I'm running Comp Cams part #111-000-10 VIP3 2003UP Viper/Truck Special Roller

Gross lift Intake .528 Exhaust .536
Duration Intake 218 Exhaust 224
Lobe lift .330 and .335 with seperation of 114

Sounds much better than stock and gained around 25rwhp.

Now I may have gained a little more due to the ported heads. Running around 520rwhp now :D

I have been talking to my local builder/tuner (Joe Donovan) about a custom grind cam (alot more agressive than the off the shelf cam). I am also upgrading the valve springs, roller rockers and larger/hardened pushrods.

Wouldn't you be running a risk of no R&D, or are they put through dyno testing once installed?
This is a great alternative, I'm sure they can get as aggresive and crazy as possible.
Say you were installing different rods, pistons, etc. Would they have to account for that in their design of a cam? Also what effect would there be on increased bore diameter. Thanks for any help.
Sorry if this is off-topic, if so I will start a new thread.
