What is the best Cam to get for the truck? What all would I need for a proper cam install? I know I need to replace the lifters as well. Can I use the Mopar cam?

To think that just earlier I was saying that a cam cost too much for such little gains but I'm easily swayed.

What do you want the cam to do? What is your goal, are you having a problem that the new cam needs to address? How do you plan to use the truck with the new cam...street, street and strip, strip only...lots of issues surround the issue of a cam change...

Cool! I'll trust your judgement. I want sound and I want a bad ass NA truck. That's all.

If you have an opinion post up. I'm in search of information. Why post "no comment"? It carries negative undertones.

Paddy you cant just install a cam, the Prof asked very good questions, but you give no answers.

Just installing any cam is worthless, is it a QC, RC?
do you have headers, mids?
CAI?
do you just want sound?
or do you really want power?
future plans N/A?
any headwork gonna be done?
how about fuel managment?
or just minimal results with PCm flash.
do you want it fo the street, to race, or just sound cool?
what about pushrods? stock ones sux
have you priced install?

to get a good cam that performs it should spec'd out to the direction of you modifications.

A SC'r cam sux in turbo engines and vica versa.

wheras alot of these guys think the mopar cam is great in a Sc'd engine, it is good , but not exaclty the best.

Lobe center, lift , duration all come into affect for the application.
and so far all you have said is you want a cam:confused:

It's a quadcab and currently I have a stage II, magnaflow, CAI and catless mids. I'd like to build up my engine a bit. Something similar to what Vipertruck2933 has done.

I thought that cam applications for this engine was limited that's why my question was so vague. I really want a nice lopey sound. A good rumble yet refined.

I only race at the strip. The truck is almost two years old and I just turned over 12k.

I was planning on just going a more inexpensive route and just sticking with my stock manifolds, CAI and PCM. But I guess we always want more.

Paddy One guy got the Comp Cam ( I think thats right) Anyways He has a Quad it costs him 2800.00 with labor to put the Cam In. I think your better off to get some good headers. You got to let it breathe Much better. Unless your taking it to the Drag strip Exclusevily than I think its worth it. Hey senior members isn't their a Compromise in torque if you guys get a Cam??

Annu ...you are a good guy,,but almost everything you just said is off.....:D

No Nowhat thats what Ted told me at Valaya racing. Maybe he was drunk.
I swear. anyways Who cares Longest I get my paxton and am in the low 11's i will be satisfied. Thanks Mike

Paddy maybe its best to hold off on the cam until major engine work (heads, bore, rockers, etc.) is something you are ready to do. I would like a bad-ass N/A build too, but am willing to wait till I have the loot to do everything in one haul. Just a thought.

Paddy,

When you ask vague questions you will get the same type of answers...

The best to do was list your mods first and then what your expectations are.

The more of a performance cam you install the more it will effect the bottom end.

If you are not careful you can actually decrease performance and drivability.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the word headers would it? :)

You have definately proven that you don't need headers Mike on a FI engine, but I am kinda curious what the difference would be with all the nitrous you pump through that engine... Either way, you have built an amazing setup!

Thats What I meant Nowhat. He even said that it will compromise performance. Meaning Hp and Torque.
