I spent a day and a half over the weekend milling out a nice billet camcorder mount that attached to the roll bar.

This afternoon was nice so I figured I would give it a try. No luck at all. Appearently the car vibrates to much and it shuts the camcorder off. My guess it's in the auto stabilzation of the camcorder.

I looked through the owners manual, but could not find anything about being able to shut off the auto stabilzation. It's a Sony HDR-SR10. Anyone have any experience with these things?

The hard drive is probably balking at the vibration. Maybe a rubber mount? Samsung makes a nice camera which records to solid state drive. No moving parts. Is suppose to tolerate vibration pretty well. You might also try recording to the memory stick instead of the hard drive. Don't know if it will work but it's something to try.

Hey! Check post number 3. We've already crossed that bridge. Or do you think it just sounds better coming from you?:aetsch::D

I just picked up a Sanyo FH1 Full HD Camcorder. It's a little tiny thing and very light weight. It records to SDHC cards so there are no moving parts there either.
I was thinking real hard about the Samsung but decided I wanted the flexibility to change out the memory if it ever goes bad. With the Samsung it's built in.

Well, if this is the case, maybe you shouldn't video this in the first place.:p You may not want to press "play"

There has GOT to be someplace that will make a gel-mount for you... :dontknow:  Let me search around....

I know the Griots Garage rig is used by a bunch of SCCA folks. Let me see what I can find. :burnout:
