Catch Can Blowing Oil

I know we went over this a few threads ago but i'm still blowing oil out of the top of my catch can.... and its dirty nasty oil but oil non the less... it's so much that it has covered the entire passagner side of the engine bay..... what can fix this? I've also tried TNVipers idea of putting an SOS pad in the filter to try and stop the oil from coming out but it is still blowing out... what can be the problem?.. i installed the catch can just like the instructions from JBM said so i'm at a loss of words...any ideas?
 
i have same problem with my 3/4 ton with an ironten ,,have not done a leak down test ,,but was told it could be a valve not seating good ,,truck runs fine ,,

tooloe post up what you find ,,does anyone know if a valve not seating could cause this ,,i could see how if rings were getting blow by :dontknow:
 
O boy... Stink i havn't really talked to david about it.... it has done it since day one with the catch can on the truck.. just havn't really said anything on here... because i thought it as normal... i guess i will call A.R.T here in a little while an see what david thinks...... an Iron head.... the valve could also not be seated... if you rember i had problems with my heads the first time we put the motor back in the truck ... with the valve seals... so i dunno

interesting ,,,,mine on my 3/4 ton only blows out the passenger side ,,are you getting blow-by out both sides or just one side ,,i removed my two hoses rev - ed it up and i had a tad coming out drivers side ,and hose on other side wiped in the air back and forth its so strong ,,
 
I get blow by with mine. Chuck said this is normal with the setup I have. ( larger ring gaps for FI). I was thinking of running a hose from the catch can out to the back of the truck.Not sure how much your getting though or whats the cause.
 
thats identical to what mine is doing... david said that it's prob the cause is the can dosn't have any baffles in it... but i have made arrangements to have a leak down test done to the truck to see how the rings an everytihng look!

Did you stuff the can? Not packed tight but enough to fill it?

I dont know if your builder did the same as mine but mine used hardened racing rings in my build...I had a lot of blowby until the suckers finally seated...used a qt of oil every 400-600 miles...took over 10K miles for them to seat..........now my can will be empty after 30 days unless it is cold outside (as it is now). Then it will only have a little clear water from condensation due to the cold and I use zero oil between 2K changes (20W50)..

Completely Fill the Can WIth Steel Wool?
 
Toole there are other catch cans out there that have a clean side and a dirty side. Half the can will be a wire mesh at the top with a vent to a filter or back to the intake. Then on the bottom it is open and there is a tube that runs to the bottom.

Thats what i'll be doing. And running the filtered side back to the intake track. you just got to make sure you keep up on draining it.

tooloebobo. not to be a dick to you or larry, but you can fill the catchcan with cement, and if you got blowby, it ainta going to help bro, get the leakdown done and see what the results is first.;)
 
I did a leak down on mine when i thought the world was coming to an end and it was only 2%. But i still need to forge it up.

Someone told me later that doing a leakdown test with 120 psi shop air doesn't mimic the cylinder pressures found in the engine.

Normally a leak down test is done with a regulated 100psi of air.

Did you use a one or two gauge leak down tester ?
