I recently got a E-Mail from Verizon wireless that my phone bill was ready for viewing on line. So, I went into my account and saw that my wireless bill was only $1,294.24.

After the wife picked me up off the floor, I called Verizon, they told me that my dear Grandson, Beau has made over 5000 text messages in the month of January.

Before I called them I looked up my account settings and saw that my account show text messaging BLOCKED, needless to say I printed the information.

On the phone, I asked them if text messaging was blocked on my account, how did they let this happen, then attempt to charge me for it? They hem and hawed around for a while and said well we can provide you with some kind of discount, but I would have to pay at least half the bill.

I told them, not going to happen, turn them off, take me to court and I'll show the judge the printout where it shows text messaging to be blocked.

To cut to the chase, I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless and they said a new bill would be sent out with no text messaging charges.

So, just a little advice, you might want to go on line and check the status of your cell phone account, just in case you have teenagers with itchy fingers.

It happened to me as well 2 times with my daughter to the tune of over$700. 1st time was for texting and the second time was for data charges (Internet). The data charges were a little over $500. Both times Verizon dropped all the charges and put a block on my daughters line for these types of charges.

That's crazy!!!

I just switched to a joint account with my wife.... I made sure to get the "Unlimited" package from Sprint. This package has 3000 shared anytime minutes and unlimited everything (text, data, 411, nav, long distance, etc) included. It's $130/mo for both of us.... I think it's $10 more for each individual you add after that. I figured it was a deal, because the wife texts almost all the time now... and she uses that cell phone A LOT. Maybe you should switch to Sprint. :dontknow: :) They have great phones too.

My brother had the similiar thing happen with his ex-wife's son.....he had supplied his step son with a cell phone while he was married to the boy's mother....when they divorced he had the boy's cell phone deactivated...the cell company (not Verizon) didnt tell him that deactivation expires after a period of time.....boy disovered the phone worked again and ran up a $1200 bill..........cell company did the same thing trying to make him pay part of the bill.........my brother is an attorney..;)

I just have one question .................how do these kids have time to eat and sleep much less go to school and actually learn something if they are texting, talking and on the 'net so much ? :dontknow:  :dontknow:

Shoot...I can be sitting at a stoplight watching people make a turn and fully half if not more are on the phone while they're driving. Mostly women (they are the communicators) but a fair share of men as well. I once followed a women who was on the phone before she left her driveway and I can bet was still on it when she got to work. Phone, makeup, hair, smoking, playing with the radio....who has time to pay attention to their driving.
