I need help! Comments please!

Here is my story.....

For a few months now every time I start the truck up in the morning and I reverse out of my driveway and get going, 1st gear goes in fine, 2nd fine, then 3rd goes in but with a little grind. It is not hard for 3rd to engage. It goes right in without any extra effort but with that stinkin grind.

Now lately it seems that I have to add fluid to the master cylinder for the tyranny. The way I notice is that some times the clutch decides to stay on the floor and the gear stays engaged and I have to pump the clutch to get it back to normal. Then I add fluid and engages and disengages fine. Two days ago, I was on the road and was shifting from 2nd to 3rd but it never went in. It decided to stay in Neutral and no matter how much I pumped the clutch it would not go in. I managed to roll it to the corner and luckily it was the auto parts store. I bought some fluid, topped it off and pumped the clutch. It started to work again but it just does not shift the same anymore. At first I thought that I would have to do the slave upgrade but I don’t have the cash to do it if it’s not bad. Do you guys think that I may have air in the line? (I sure hope so) and is there a way to purge it?

you got a leak somehwere boss, look under the dash around the linkage where it goes thru the firewall, if its there its the master, if not remove the cover on the tranny an see if it is all black and gooey looking, if so slave cylinder.

Air in the line?? Probably not if you keep having to add fluid. Are you seeing any fluid drips under the truck? I'm not an expert but I'm guessing the slave has developed a leak unless you can find a leak elsewhere. You shouldn't be having to top off your reservoir so often.

Thats what had me thinkin. I see no fluid leaks on the ground.

Lets hope its not black and gooey then!:(

Thanks!

yeah IZ, it could be a slow leak and if it is in the slave it will mix with the dust from the clutch and well.......gooey:)

Hey izzy, I'll be pulling my old clutch stuff off this weekend. you can have whatever you need just take care of the shipping. I'm doing the viper slave upgrade so I wont need it anymore. My truck has 44k and it still worked and shifted fine but I would have a hard time getting in gear after doing a burnout. Let me know bro

but its not or it is sliping , when you romp on it......?
At first i thought the clutch started to slip but i think it was my brain playing tricks because of the clutch staying on the floor. I dont thinks it slips when i go WOT.

Gotta be a leak somewhere. Stock slave seems to fail the most IMO.

I sure hope its a simple fixable leak.
