I have been running my new CenterForce clutch,Fidanza flywheel, and Viper master and slave cylinders for a couple of days now.The pedal pressure is lighter and smoother, the truck feels about 1,000 pounds lighter,it runs in 5th a lot more often and feels much more responsive. Thanks Boomer !!!
The only down side is that the clutch pedal is about three inches higher than it was and the clutch doesn't engage until almost fully out.I am looking for a shop to check out the install for any possible mistakes and to bleed out the DOT 3 and replace it with the DOT 5.1 from Gary.I don't have a lift , so I can't do it.
Did anyone else experience this ? It works great, but I really hate to have to lift my foot that high and would much prefer to have it engage sooner.Boomer said to bleed it to be sure there are no air bubbles trapped in it.
Where can I get the reverse injection tool to bleed it from the slave cylinder end ?

Did you use the shim when installing the master cylinder? I believe that corrects the pedal change.

Other than your current issue, this setup really rocks!!

Well, it was all together when the mechanic had a problem.I had Gary call him and he asked him if he had installed them.He hadn't.He said he took everything apart and put them in.I now have my doubts.Hopefully I can take it to H&H in Manassas or to another Viper specialist shop.Maybe one of the shops in NC that Stinker knows ? I have another 300 miles on the break-in ! then the 4.56's. I can hardly wait !!!!!!!!!!!

Danial is the one to answer this question. He had not installed the shim at first, so the clutch pedal was off but later on I believe he did install it. He bought the kit before it really was a kit and no shim was available. I would pm VPRPWR dude.

MAYBE , if he did install the shims, mine may need three, rather than the standard two ????????

I could be way off base here, but wasnt one shim for the slave and the other for the master cylinder up by the pedal? The slave one was kinda skinny, whereas the other was maybe a quarter inch or more thick?

patrick

There were two,but I think both went to the slave(about an 1/8th" ea) .Maybe I need one for the master on the firewall ? I'll call Gary.BTW,his customer service is beyond compare. You couldn't ask for a better guy to deal with.May just take a trip to Indiana and let Gary look at it.I need to get away for awhile anyway. I'm just scared I'll come away with a blower,intercooler,fan,etc.,etc.I've spent more on his stuff than anything else this year.

i've had my kit installed since May. I had the same question about the pedal position when the clutch engaged. I never heard about the shims before. My stock clutch released in the same position though. I though it was just how these trucks were. makes for fast shifts though....just push it half way and bang the shift! is there any danger not running w/ shims installed?

I don't know about any danger.I guess the clutch would not be fully engaged.Mine seems fully engaged, just way too far out for my likes.

Had Roe Racing install mine...the stock clutch was way out...and the new Centerforce ended up being the same...I also did not like the feel, at first, way too high...but I have become accustomed to it...still would prefer a lower engage point...but I have no qualms about the way it hooks up!:burnout:

true that....this thing hooks up like mad! once you get used to the feel its golden! I think if i had to push it fully to the ground each time to shift my left leg would be wayy bigger than my right!

There should be approx a 1/8 shim on the slave and a 1/4 on he master. Stinker and I went around-and-around getting his pedal back to normal, and he finally got it....might want to PM him fr the details. I had DC do mine, but it feels like it engages/diss @ the same location...so I'm not sure if they modify it in-house.?!

Exactly Red! My pedal feels like its in the same position as the stocker only lighter.

At the risk of getting flamed, I never had a problem with my CF and Fidenza with the stock slave and master. I didn't like the idea of having to shim the slave and master to make them work right. And I also felt that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Nobody likes the idea of the composite (plastic) slave, but the composite slaves have been used on vehicles for some time now.

Very true...

Mine was replaced due to the slave not being able to push the fingers on the aftermarket pressure plate. The plastic was warping enough to not allow full dissengagement. The metal slave solved it, but now im having other issues....Might change the clutch kit out and see what we get....

If I had a problem like that, I would have changed it then too(or if it leaked).

What problems are you having now?

ACT Clutch kit wants me to do a review for you guys, So the centerforce will be sent back for investigation and see if something is wrong with it, and the ACT will be installed.

Just remind them that if they don't get it done intime for you to bring the truck to Bakersfield on the 23rd, the review might not be as good as it could be :D
