Clutch

if you are going to do serious track time , a dual disc is the only thing that will last , a single full face disc is not gonna cut the mustard

JFIO, the Spec is the only clutch that has exploded in the Viper........

i didnt know this - thanks for sharing

I dont plan on tracking it every day. I would probably go 3 times a season I dont have much free time. Id buy the dual but they are expensive. My mods currently are cat back, intake, short throw and tune. I plane on doing headers and mid pipes and probably leave it at that. I dont know if that info will help one which clutch I should choose.

if your only going three times os so and with the mods you have a stage II + would work prob the best for you

From what I read It was way to much motor for the clutch. Plus I believe that was almost 5yrs ago. From the research I have done spec has come along way (because of the bad rap they where getting).
Also your build compared to the rest of us is child play:aetsch: where just the little dawgs trying to keep up:D:elefant: Trust me if I had the cash tilton would be in my shit but I don't so, Ill try spec :itsme:

Let's take up a collection for me so I can order a Tilton through Tony and we will test it on my truck...

I got about 25K miles out of my last centerforce with lots of N20 passes and tons of 5K+ pound towing. They are the best bang for the buck for a sub 750whp truck IMO. You are not going to get 50K miles out of a performance clutch in a 5000# performance application. Many guys have to replace the stocker before 15K miles (including me). Im on my second CF and it still feels like new with about 10-15K miles on it, but I know ill be putting another in within 15K miles, you have to pay to play.

Roger That!!! IMO.

I too am on my second CenterForce (first was at 8k)...but if you guys will open up your wallets, I will be the test truck for the Tilton...why is no one responding:dontknow:

Word on the street is that the pressure plate on the spec clutches are easier on the left foot (require less pedal effort) than the centreforce. Does anyone have a line on that? I know devildawg is about to drop on in, so we'll know soon enough.

You have to be able to break 14 seconds in the 1/4 mile to order a Tilton, or they won't even talk to you.:D

I am the fastest, strongest and quickest 14 second Ram SRT 10 in all of incorporated Wadsworth. I think Tilton should sponsor me!

What part of ...BREAK 14 SECONDS...did you not understand ? I know this is a real expense and you are trying to save money ....but you will have to break down and BUY a Helmet if you run a 13.99......

Time passes too quickly for me as it is...why pray tell, would I want to do things quicker?

There are no Ram SRT 10's in Wadsworth that run in the 14's that can beat me as I am!

Good luck on the Spec clutches, I truly hope they work well for everybody that is using them.

Clutches are like a deep, dark art.
Too much clutch and things start to break.
Many things, downstream need to be upgraded.
Not enough clutch and they go away very fast.

I had decent luck with the stock clutchs, the stock hydraulics suck.
I never ran the stock clutches with slicks, just street tires.

I have run dual disk clutches on the street for years with very good results.

You pay more in the beginning, but the life is very much longer.

Also the pedal pressure is much lighter with a dual disk.....:):):)

Could always just drive a powerwheels vehicle from fisher-price. They say you get 10mpc on those things. No maintenance costs. The limits are limited! Awesome!

In all honesty, clutches are like a part of your personality. That's why when someone else drives your vehicle, you know it's been driven... differently. If you are the type that charges a fee for a ride! I'd have to agree with SPEC clutches. I'd try several different ones throughout a few years time. Clutches can vary to a user on so many factors. I especially hate pucked clutches in stop/go traffic... but the reward with the kill of a mustang makes my day!

My centerforce lasted almost 2k miles. Trying the Spec stage 3 out now. I have 26.8 miles on it so far.
