This is a post I did a few months ago ----and no one had a mod that would look good ---I can't remember who ---but someone posted that they were checking with msd or someone about a coil pack relocation kit ...Has anyone relocated there coil packs out from under the manifold ...if yes Pics please....

What is the benefit of placing coil packs outside of the manifold? To be honest with you, I dont even know the true purpose of a coil pack.... ( I dont suppose its like the ignitors/excitors on a T-56 Engine....:dontknow::D)

THE COIL PACK ARE WERE ONE END OF THE PLUG WIRES CONNECT TO they are located under the intake manifold----i'm looking for a kit /setup to move them to a better location

Thanks Tony ---Now i remember ---it was FSTjack that posted that ---My damn memory sucks....

Old thread but I'm in the right place to consider such a mod. Getting the intake out isn't the most fun you can have under hood and with fresh new paint, things happen so moving these bad boys else where for easy access would be pretty nice. Anyone gotten any closer? Any ideas? Now, this is off the top of my head, too late to go out and check but has anyone had a look inside the cowl area by removing the wiper arms, insulation, trim to see how much room is up there? Wonder if they'd reach?

Bar that, I can only see moving them to the RH & LH sides of the back of the heads. Anything beats replacing wires and having to remove the intake. The cowl is only a few bolts, heck, you could cut a nice hole and have a sliding for easy access door if you wanted!! Not keen on slicing and dicing the wires etc. I'd look at extending the connectors wires but nothing else. Can you even get custom length spark plug leads to match our trucks etc??? Input? Ideas? Options?

The two main problems will be wire length modification (depending on where the coil paks are mounted) and grounding (VERY IMPORTANT!!)..............the Viper tech at my dealer spoke with his instructor at the viper school about moving these. He told him getting a solid ground is the main concern. They cant be just mounted to sheet metal.

To convert to the MSD coils you need to change to a Pectel engine management system. It has the capabilities of running individual coils. The Pectel system runs in the 8K range, cant see many people doing this.

You can get wires in whatever length, shape, color, etc. that you can dream of. You can purchase DIY kits to build your own wires to whatever length you want. I have used the MSD DIY wires before, but Im sure all the wire companies have them.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. 8k?? YIKES!! Removing the intake is looking so bad after all lolol :D
