They didn't. The worlds fastest production truck was a regular cab. The 4 doors are SLOW!!!!

I never had any doubt that the 4 door was fast...it's more of an appearance issue with me. I guess i'm old skool...it's just like the new "Chargers" a 4 door just doesn't seem right.

I don't know why....but if they had not, I'd still be driving a Hemi because I have three kids.
I hated the looks as well, but a few hundred dollars of MOD's later mine is looking better.

It really just depends on what your needs are and what you want in a truck. Both are fast for being TRUCKS. Me personally, I wanted to be able to haul some people around, and tow when I need to. If you just want speed then a RC is the way to go. Here's a question... why would they paint a regular ram yellow, call it "limited edition" and jack the price up???:dontknow:

Personally I love my QC to take the family out in a fast truck. The boys love the truck and I love to share the experience with them. Something you can not do in a RC.

Just my opinion.

As the others have said, the "official speed record" was set in 04 in a RC which was the only model made that year.

Dodge came out with the QC in 05 to appeal to the purchasers whom wanted to tow and have more interior room. They have not made any attempts at a new record with the QC version.

With that being said, the current fastest "quarter mile" would be with a QC, Mike Bradys old truck...."The Supertank".........but Stinker and some others have some very fast RC's.

A couple thoughts come to mind on this topic,1.Maybe to allow people with disabilities access to a fun vehicle,2.Maybe to ALLOW the FAMILY man to enjoy said vehicle,3.Maybe to allow people who don't want to be bothered with shifting an alternative,4.Or maybe just to totally baffle those that can't see BEYOND THEMSELVES (read selfish)!!! There was a big stink awhile back about another member who had the nerve to put a TOPPER on his Yellow Fever 10,until they were made aware of the fact that this gentleman was confined to a wheelchair !!! Then the backpeddling began !!! Once again it's just a case of being Narrow Minded !!! I personally have a physical disability,and am soooo glad the QC AUTOMATIC allows me the opportunity to enjoy this truck !!!Which I do,and I think 63K mi verifies that,I don't have a garage queen that only comes out if the sun is shining,it's used EVERY DAY !!!
