Prof asked aobut custom driveshafts, thats no problem, looks as though I may have to pay vendors fees soon:D

but any way the deal is Steel, chrome molly, or aluminum.

They dont do the carbon because it chips so easily, a simple rock down the track and its cracked

Steel? heaviest , cheapest, but strongest and longest lasting , and can do almost any length.

chrome moly? Strong, long lastiing a tad heavier than aluminum, max length around 62 inches.

Aluminum? Nowwhat(lolol) can probably do a single driveshaft, aluminum, But they just dotn last near as long as chrome moly.

Prices? dont know quit yet, maybe tommorrow.

diferences? Well the chrome moly is around an average of 10lbs heavier roatating mass, so there would be power loss there.

got questions?

Also working on a decent deal for 4.88s, from what I understand you have to change the carrier and use 2 tone rings.
If anyone has anymore info on that let me know, I should know more about price tommorrow.

Nowwhat, just need an approximate length of the driveshaft ya need berooo!:D

Do lengths vary? Is there a chance that two rc's would require different length drive shafts? Or can we measure one RC and one QC and have the lengths we would need?

Then comes the issue of model year...ugh! I guess we will have to check.

I would think 04 and 05 model rc's would be the same,

the 06's are probably different.

now a one piece for a QC would be different all together.

but I jsut spoke with them breifly before he left work today onhis way home in his uh Red SRT 10 RC:D

I dunno th QC shaft is like 22 feet long....:D

Back on the NFFF, Hennessey was supposed to produce a 1 piece QC shaft. If I remember right Walt looked into it. I don't think it ever panned out.

I believe Suncoast can have them cut for you for about 600-800 bucks.

correct....

Unitrax is researching it now...they came to DC performance and measured the QC 2 piece....all in all they felt the stocker was way over built and not going to snap....

I am going to need one because the built automatic that Suncoast did for me is not the same length as the old one.

So if I get this right the Steel one is the heaviest, then the Chromolly then Aluminum, right. How much lighter would the molly one be? And how much?
