I think Chris is in Calif. & Torrie is in Fla. Neither is close to you.
His ET's suggest he is getting maximum power out of his combination.
I watched 5-6 trucks get dyno tuned one afternoon and none of them gained a significant amount of power over the mail order tunes they had.You might not have any problems but u could be leaving power on the table..
Dyno tuning is not to get more HP per say .Its to adjust your air/fuel setup after mods ,gains in HP is a nice bonus but not always the case, its to make sure you are safe and give a base line on mods installed .:damnmate:

On a heads/cam combo or something that hasnt been tried yet I agree a dyno tune is a must. But with minimal bolt ons I feel its just w waste of cash, my truck has been on a dyno with Air/Fuel readings and they were right where they should be, nice and safe.
My two quickest times were on the stock PCM, no tune. I have a custom dyno tune that pings in the dead of summer, under WOT. I'm currently running a MP PCM, and I honestly can't say I notice any difference from the OEM unit. There is also a fine line between just saying YOU think its a waste and you just being cheap lol

You've had multiple trucks, with multiple power combinations, so you have experience I don't. How much power do you normally gain with a custom dyno tune vs a baseline email tune?
Buy the SCT DCX tuner 1st. Find a local shop dyno shop. Figure out who you want to tune your truck. The dyno shop will send your tuner the run file, the tuner then tweaks the file and sends it back via email. You need the SCT Live Load Program from the SCT website to take the tweaked file and upload from your computer to your programmer. After that you upload with the programmer to the truck. You will have to pay for a programmer, dyno time, then a tuner. No need to drive anywhere but local. Just make sure it's a good dyno shop.
If someone else has done this a different way please chime in, don't want to feel like I am giving one sided advice.
When the sct first came out it was a known fact that on an R/C the can tunes gave you NO HP gains at all ,the Q/C gain HP from turning the TQ management off .When I deleted cats and installed long tubes I gained the most on bolt on mods .Dyno had to tweak Air/Fuel because it did lean it a tad .Tickled over 13 in one spot .Torrie put it on 12.5 straight down the line .I actually lost about ten when he put it back to 12.5 but It was safe .
The rest of the times I did it after I put a set of stock ported heads and a compition cams 270 hr in my black 05 . I had some pains getting it tuned right with the 270 hr .Once thing got tuned and worked out it ran good and ran safe .And when I put two different cams and strikers on my CE .
So stock truck with just intake and catback .Don't waste the money on a dyno tune,or a can tune .
Catback with cats removed and other higher up mods ,I would seriously think about it or at least go get three or four pulls on a dyno just to check it .
And caveman ,
Fact is a FASTER truck does not mean a Faster truck .Its all about making rubber stick ,plain and simple .
That's what I been sayin....and any time you're ready to find out how fast your truck is just let me know:chain:

Next time I go I am going to bring 2 or 3 bags of 55lbs Oil Dry from work and put in bed of truck just for shits and gigglesAnd I have a JMB battery relocation kit ,I just have not done it yet .
