Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but have had my 10 since it was new and finally can afford to put some money in it. I live in Eastern KY and was wondering if anybody could recommend some one in my directon that does custom/dyno tuning on these trucks.
Thanks in advance.

I don't have any recommendations for you, but welcome to the VTCoA!

Find a local dyno shop that has a good reputation. Contact Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning- Horsepower is easy, traction is the real problem! | Unleashed Tuning | Unleashed Tuning Main Content, Front Page, Unleashed Tuning- Horsepower is easy, traction is the real problem! 2010 Taurus SHO tuning

Torrie will be doing my truck in a few weeks. He is one of the best and has a ton of experience tuning these trucks. There is also Chris Jensen who I think used to work at DC Performance. Buy a DCX hand held programmer then get the software from the SCT website & then have a custom tune done via remote dyno session with a tuner of your choice.

I only know of Torrie in Jacksonville FL. He is supposed to be one of the best.

I've heard Chris and Torrie are the best. I went with torrie because chris was not responding to my emails.

Where is Chris's shop located-4 or 5 hours wouldnt be bad but its about 12-14 hours to jacksonville from here. As far as an actual dyno tune goes-if i did it over the computer/email it wouldnt really matter-just curious as to how far i would have to drive to get a dyno tune.

Buy the SCT DCX tuner 1st. Find a local shop dyno shop. Figure out who you want to tune your truck. The dyno shop will send your tuner the run file, the tuner then tweaks the file and sends it back via email. You need the SCT Live Load Program from the SCT website to take the tweaked file and upload from your computer to your programmer. After that you upload with the programmer to the truck. You will have to pay for a programmer, dyno time, then a tuner. No need to drive anywhere but local. Just make sure it's a good dyno shop.

If someone else has done this a different way please chime in, don't want to feel like I am giving one sided advice.

Yes it is one-sided ,But it is the right side lol;)

If i were to run across a used SCT tuner-as long as they had put the stock tune back on their truck, it should be unlocked and ready to install a custom tune on my vehicle-is that right?

yes the sct for our trucks can do up to three vins before it locks up ,just make sure only one truck has been tuned with a used one ;) Just don't use their tunes ,unless you have exact same setup up and even then I would get all my own tunes.

I wanna say yes but don't quote me on that. Members sell used programmers all the time, some have issues, some don't.

Honestly I feel that a dyno tune is a waste of money vs a mail order tune unless your truck is modded. I've had a mail order tune from torrie for years even with mods with no problems at all.

Step by Step-thats what i like. I didnt realize that even by going to a dyno shop, that i would still need the tuner. That lightbulb above my head was flickering i guess..lol
