Decision on trading the 10

Made the mistake of cheating on my 10 and went to look at a GCSRT8. Fully loaded, black, dealer demo w/ 3K miles. With the current employee ++ pricing was able to get a price of $38,900. Now this would have been a simple decision if they never moved off the $19K they were giving me in trade for the 10. Well after the usually back and forth and repeat several times, they finally went to $24K for my 10 trade in which pays off the loan.

So I put $500 down to hold the deal and buy time to think. I still don't know if I can part with the truck even though I don't drive it much. Being in New England makes it useless in the winter. The GCSRT8 may be more family friendly.

Hoping anyone who has experience with the GCSRT8, as well as the 10 can chime in here and provide any insight/comparisons. Don't want to regret letting the truck go later. Thanks.

Most if it sounds like a personal choice to me.....

New is always fun.... Familiar can be very comforting, too....

Yer call, bro........

Hey Todd
How the hell are ya ...
At the end of the day Bud, Ya gotta do what's right for you and yours. But gonna miss ya at the GTG's. ...... If the deal is right ... go for it.

What am I sayin, no you can't sell your truck .....!

Good luck whatever choice you make ....

Jim

The Jeep is a fun vehicle....if I were to trade the truck the Jeep would be a choice....or maybe the Challenger?....:marchmellow:

10 would be my choice, but that is bc I am 6'8 and the GC just wouldnt have enough leg room for me. The GC SRT8 are a dime a dozen, the 10 is way more rare.... Good luck in your decision.

Doesn't sound like a great deal to me. GC SRT8's aren't selling and you can rest assured that those 3,000 miles were abusive as hell. I bet the tires are brand new right? That's because the others were toast after only 3,000 miles.

Hey Jim,

Honestly, I'm frickin' tired of winter. How you been? Been busy modding some more?

If I did trade the truck I'd still crash the GTG's and stare at all the sloooow trucks. :D

get john's (SILVERBACK) opinion, he has one and is not very happy with it:eek:

the jeep is a fun vehicle. but you must weigh in some factors. the parts and maintenance of the jeeps are crazy expensive. even for me an employee. the front brakes will last about 15k-20k at most. the pads are 454.00 bucks and you must replace the rotors when doing a brake job of the GCSRT8 about another 200 bucks each. they can not be resurfaced. the rear brakes wont last much longer than that. the diffs are due every 15k with the synthetic. the tires are crazy expensive and will only last for 20k at most. just a couple of things to think about.

Yea .. winter sucks, but we're on the downhill side. Yep I'm modding again. Got the hood ordered, and paint lined up. Damn right ya better show at the GTG's ........ Paul and I been talkin about doing one on the Roof at the Sun in late march early april I parked the truck this year. Picked up a old Buick to drive while the truck is resting.

Hang in we are almost there ........ Jim

I love mine! I have an 08 - full load no problems yet and works surprisingly well in snow although the low front end will be a problem in deep snow.
As for the brakes and pads, you can get a set of slotted & drilled for $450.00 for all 4 and I paid $199.00 for 4 ceramic pads.

I would suggest you drive it first and base your desicion on that.

For around town it is far more practical than the 10, the little things like mygig, backup camera & remote start are actually pretty useful.
It is wicked quick to 60 mph+ and some minor mods will help improve the sound and times.
2 possible downsides for you - worse MPG than the 10
and apparently the 09 TCM is impossible to crack if you are looking for a "tune"
P.M. if you need more info.... just my .02

I watched an 08 at Rockingham last year run a 12.8 bone stock. So from a performance standpoint, they're sweet!

If you got money burning a whole in your pocket and got 4 friends that wanna go fast with some golf bags in the back, its perfect.

Squashed the deal. Not picking up enough if any in performance, plus can fiind new '08s without the demo miles for a better deal. But in the end can't part with the 10.

Next time Jim can come over and bash me in the head for not thinking straight.

So this means I'll have to mod more. I see forged internals and either a Roe or Justin's Procharger in the future.
