Detnation

Sounds a scary to me. If you detect the "diamond mine" on the top of pistons, and have needed a catch can for a while (because of blow by) I would go ahead and do a leak down test...your blow by has started for a reason, it may be that the detonation, if you have it, may have compromised your pistons and/or rings...a leak down and compression check is simple and would add a measure of confidence about the health of your engine.

Don't drive it hard...get a good tune...

If you are worried about the load factor on the engine...you might want to try a Mustang Dyno that adds load to the rear wheels...but the tuner is the most important factor way above everything else.

Good luck, hope you find no problems.

Thats a good idea Ron:rock: What do you think it would cost to put that on my truck?

Installation is pretty straight forward, so just the price of the unit should be all.
I talked to Stinker a while back and I think he was using one of these units or maybe a different brand..??..
I CAN'T hear an engine ping anymore, which isn't good. There are some service
stations playing the Premium/Regular game which could be deadly to the engine if you are pushing it.

So if I can't hear it ping, at least I can SEE it with a unit like this one...

I can't hear it anymore either...Sean rode in my truck and asked me to get on it...and he asked me to do it three or four times (after he had done a two or three hour dyno tune) and the first two times he heard a slight ping and adjusted my tune. I never heard a thing...

This is why some good tuners follow their dyno tune with a ride...

But some of us just never hear that slight detonation sound...
