Does not pertain to Srt-10's

Dodge is recalling RAM 1500 (2008 Year) MEGACAB 4WD's, RAM 2500 (2003-2011 Years), Ram 3500 (2003-2011 Year). Dealers will inspect the tie rod ends and, if necessary, replace them free of charge. The company said the left tie rod ball stud may fracture, often during low-speed parking lot maneuvers when the driver is making a tight turn. The problem could cause the “loss of directional stability in the left-hand front wheel,” the company said. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 about Recall N. L16.

As I read that, it will have nothing to do with our trucks, will it?

The 1500's they are refering to is only the MEGACAB (its built on the HD CHASSiS) and its only 4WD's trucks

Old recall?

I got this recall on the wife's Megacab about a year and a half ago and when I took it in they said "the recall did not include your specific truck but the tie rods, steering stabilizer, and drop link all need upgraded". 1000 bucks later:mad: all was replaced and this was at 86k miles! They did show me the tie rods and they were bad enough I was not willing to drive it off the lot. Guess which one it was?

that was probably recall H46 which was only about 5% of the trucks on the road that needed repairs for the stabalizer link. However if a tie rod goes bad you can only replace it with the complete upgrade kit. you may be able to get reimbursed if the new recall is for you truck.

Yea that's what pissed me off. The only repair was to do EVERYTHING! Don't get me wrong the replacement stuff is visibly more heavy duty. I will definately be looking into the possibility of some reimbursement. I really questioned the need for replacements at 86K for a truck that is 98% highway driven:dontknow: I have had harder driven trucks with 150K plus with original stuff.

i understand man. i have to deal with it all the time explaining why i cant just replace a tie rod end, but to replace the drag link, toe rods and steering damper. but then again it happens with a lot of things I own, it seems like there is always an updated part. Happens with my boat all the time.
