do you have in Italy ways for restoration or DIY :dontknow: i do not want to take away your dream but i have learned meantime that you better buy a already restorated car...never seen a better option....
give a example on my vette : bought it for 32K euro totaly restorated up to the last bolt...after looking with some specialist restores companys : they ensured me the same work would cost at least 25K on a "decent" car which go around 10K-15K over here....so calculation was quickly done. What i am sure is not all work done is payed with those 32K....
Even i i'm surprized how much money go's into little changes..what i have done :
- stainless spaghetti headers
- electronic ignition hidden in original distributor ( real better performance)
- new LT1 exhaust ( side pipes are cosmetic, not performance)
- original alu wheels from later years , just cosmetic
- steering colum with tilt/slide ( option was not on my car , much better driving position )
- new Koni shocks as they were "gone" by standing there for 5 years...
- new tires ( Indy 500 ) for my alu wheels
- new fiberglas spring rear suspension ( done for weight and better handling )
- new battery ( same as shocks, gone after 5 years showroom... )
- complete kit backing lights ( was not installed on gearbox )
- complete rework on shimming suspension and wheel alignement ...that's obviously something you don't see at first and is not done on restoration projects as they believe i think it's for showroom display....
- new leather steering wheel ( as from later years ) because original is realy thin to drive ...
and so on... ofcourse i kept all original pieces , no problem to reverse ..
but now i'm sure up to a additional 3k-4K...if it is not 5K.....:dontknow:
