I did the same kit fast fred. Any idea on what your angles are? That would be most helpful!

Well,at least it's not just certain people with the same problem !!!The vibration is nowhere near as bad with Boomers kit as it was with McGaughey kit !!!

Good thing I didn't go with McGaughey's kit. Hopefully this weekend I will find time to shim the tranny and double check all angles in hoped of getting rid of the vibration. I'll let all you guys know what I find out.

BlackKnight--I purchased the X-Metal kit along with a set of CalVert traction bars. I, like you, did it myself. But literally by myself...with a little jack and jackstand help from my 9 year old son. My set up is the same as yours with the stock shackles, although I do have an 05 QC. I'm not sure if there is a difference between the 05 and the 06. I talked with both Gary and Marty at X-Metal before and during the install. Marty was very clear in that you must set the pinion angle at 3 degrees downward and that if it is set right, you do not need the shims under the tranny mount. I left my angle indicator on top of the pinion while I was bringing the rear end up into place and tightening down the blocks and u-bolts. At the last turn of the wrench, it was at 3 degrees and I have no problems. Good luck...hopefully it's a quick fix!

I have a 2006 QC and went with a Bell Tech 1.5" Rear Drop Shackle and also a Hellwig Rear sway bar. Front is stock heighth. Of course it is not near the drop you did or as complex but I have had no vibration or drivability issues.

Thanks!

ViperBite,
I had the pinion angle set at -3 degrees but still got the vibration. Now its set at -5 degrees (which Boomer said was still ok) and yet the vibration is still there:dontknow: Outnumbered had the same problem before he put the shims under the rear tranny mounting bolts but since he did, he no longer has the vibration. I will try that and hope to hell it works. Will post what happens

05/06's are differant....06's are longer; Im sure that is why this 'seems' to be an 06 QC problem only.

We did victors shims yesterday @ my place...We added 1/4" under the tranny and the vibrations definitely improved, but have not gone away fully....caltracs will be installed this week so we will see what happens.

06's are longer then the 05 QC's, which I believe accounts for vibrations due to the (even longer) driveshaft.

ANY O5'S OUT THERE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
THINKING OF LOWERING.ALIGNMENT?? AND NOW THIS!!!
IS IT WORTH IT? POST UP:confused:

06 QC's seem to be having the issues of vibration after lowering..I haven't heard of any with the 05's...

Absolutely worth it in my opinion! It's real easy to put the washers underneath the tranny plate.

have you tried to raise it a little at the back ? it should solve the problem shouldnt it ??
