Electric motor driven accessories?

Here's what you need to do.

1. Electric fan
2. Electric waterpump
3. Mount the alternator on your rear axle and put a sheave on the driveshaft with a belt to drive the alternator when the truck is moving
4. Convert to arm strong steering
5. Ditch the A/C

Now you have no belt drive accessories. This is how the class racers who want minimal accessory drag, but need alternators do it.

I might be wrong, but don't you need some kind of drag on the engine ?

if you pulled off all of the belts, can't that hurt the engine ?

I mean I have always thought of pulling the a/c or power steering off to gain small Hp, but I have never heard of anyone doing it on these trucks, do they even offer a a/c delete pulley.
 
no hurt the engine with no belt/accs.

i have asked & searched for years now, there is no a/c delete on the gen III engines.

ever seen an alt. full fielded??? it does drag the engine & pretty good. at least 200 or more r.p.m. at idle. yes, i know it does not run full field very often. but the mag. pull can be a s strong as any mech. pull.

ever think of puttin a vacuum pump in the a/c comp. place???? all the articles i have read says thats any easy 30 to 40 h.p. gain

How does a vacuum pump increase the HP,curious on how that works??:dontknow:

what??? running the crank case in negitive pressure. its like the crank & rods are runnin in outer space. NO DRAG/RESISTANCE. ask Justin bout it

So instead of a vacuum pump why couldn't you put a fitting around the collector on the header on an angle that would create a vacuum and suck out if the valve covers that way??
Would there be enough vacuum created from exhaust to do the same as a pump??

another way of doin it, for sure.:rock:

just don't know if the header system pulls negitive or not. or how controllable the header system is

Hmmmm not sure,but guessing it would work simular being that the RPM increases so does vacuum in exhaust and so would the pump speed:dontknow:

I also have another idea,what if you were to do an electric fan and then get a vacuum pump that the powersteering pump could run it inplace of the fan??:dontknow::confused:

i agree.:rock:

just had a thought, never seen the header style done on a complete ex. system, just open headers. wonder if whatever back pressure would be in a complete system would make the system not work:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:
 
I had the exhaust style on my Javelin and it worked fine, but the vacuum pump pulls a better vacuum. The vacuum pumps do require maintenance and really arnt recommend for street cars, but people still use them on the street all the time.
