Engine Detailing

I always wash my engine at the car wash then after I get everything dried off I go back and polish all my belts and hoses with armor all high shine.

Haven't done the truck yet...

But, I use Simple Green in a solution, scrubbing all the hoses and parts that I can reach... Then spray down with water (be sure to avoid the electrical parts as much as possible). I usually let the vehicle run while I was the rest of the outside. This way, when I'm done, the motor is pretty much dry. Then I spray down the engine bay with dressing (any aerosol tire dressing works great). After that, I spray-detail or wax the exterior. :)

I have heard that in the long run it will crack your hoses and belts. you need to use something water based. I use a rubber and vinyal cleaner.

You fine boo boo, u do goooooood!!:D

i got ya all beat!!!LOLOL

clean the engine bay, go to fla in what ? nov, dec? drive home, clean it , and dont drive it for 4 or 5 months,

jsut look at it:D

I try to just wipe down the engine with a dry rag as much as possible. I also will use the Armor All - Cleaning wipes for any stains. I find that if you use all those silicone cleaners on the hoses, it just makes it harder and harder to keep clean because it will attact dirt and will stick to it.

Armor all cleaning wipes in the purple canister...

And vacuum out the sand from the extra battery tray. WTF is that all about?

I was only kidding about the Cascade Silver. I quoted an old commercial. I'm a smartass like that.:dontknow:

That's cool. When I was younger I tried that on my vehicle. It was old and it probably couldn't hurt it. I just wanted to educate the forum incase someone thought they wanted to try it. Let them make an informed decision.;)

There are several ex-spouses and maybe a current one that would argue that point vociferously.
