Hello everyone!

I finally got my nylon braided oil cooler lines put in. Cost me $132 CAD for parts. So happy the stock junkers pieces of crap are out! >:O

I just got a question regarding engine shake/vibration. I don't know a whole lot about how V10's run, or if high performance engines are supposed to have some movement to them or not.

The engine mounts are still in good shape. Spark plugs still in good condition. Overall no feeling of engine loss but then again, I don't really know what it is supposed to feel like before. When I start it up, I hear the ticking noise and from what I've gathered it's "injector tick" or the lifters as I just did an oil change with 0w40 and K&N oil filter. Anyway... I don't think it's a misfire because I haven't got a code and the truck doesn't seem to have any symptoms... or so I think.

I'm going to get it scoped out or run a diagnostic OBD2 reader to find out. But I'll have to wait until after work tomorrow. So I'll ask my questions before-hand :)

Is it noticeable to have a misfire without a code? Normal for the engine to vibrate a little? I feel the movement (truck vibration) while inside. I gather shifter movement is normal for RWD vehicles also.

Still trying to go over from bottom to top as to what the previous owner did to the truck.

I hear it whenever the truck is idling and I'm placing my head at the drivers side wheel well. Either after a hard run or a warm day. Cooler day it does it too. Pretty much all the time. Not as loud sometimes.

This would be considered excessive, correct?

I think I'll just have to take a video of the truck and maybe that will help more. If only it would stop raining...

I guess low mileage don't mean jack all if it was driven hard in the past. I'll do some more reading on that scoobert.

You would know if something was wrong from the obvious LOUD noise and power loss. Valve train noise is normal, If its louder than the exhaust then you should worry

Cant tell for sure since I cant hear it but the way you describe it sounds normal.......if it bothers you you might try 15W40 oil is it is warm where you are and/or go with a Mopar filter...make sure it is the white one with VIPER on it...

I read that somewhere too! I guess next oil change I won't go 0w40. It does get hot here. :(

I only ask the question as after I drove the truck 10 hours straight from one city to another. I was thrown a p0307 code (misfire on cyl. 7) and then I figured it was from elevation differences or something along the lines of it. I reset it and it hasn't come back. But that was when I wasn't really paying attention to the sound of everything else as I just bought the truck, so this is all news to me. I was watching the gauges the whole trip back. Now everything else is drawing my attention.

I'm sure this happens once you start settling into the fact of how the truck runs after a while.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes. This was when I noticed my oil cooler lines were leaking. Funny you ask this 'cause I've read at how much of a PITA it is to read the 05' dipsticks. Turns out the oil was around 7ish - 8qrts (I think) so it was barely even registering on the dipstick. It kind of made it worse reading that thread about it. As I tried so many times using my finger (wiping the end) to get it to read. Most of what I was getting was coming from the tube. But I caught it before it got any lower. Truck has been parked nearly a month afterwards. Got parts ordered and today I finally got to drive it! Poor girl missed me! :D

Hard to get it all done on a roofers wages. :p Need a new roof anyone??
