Hey yall

I live in Florida.

I typically use 0w-40 like the cap says for engine oil Mobil 1.

Id like to quiet down the engine. I have been told 15w40 is a good alternative. I remember reading a thread about a bigger oil filter too. Where can I get that filter?

My transmission is noisy. I am using Chrysler ATF. How can I quiet that down?

Also, I get code P1486 from time to time. Mainly after I go on a hour drive or longer on the highway. I use my scan-tool to delete the code. What is the cause of this code so I can fix it?

Thanks, Peter

the old P1486 code. evap system, pinched hose.

been several folks with this code. most have taken the system off.

i got a program from Torrie to turn EVAP system off. probably for marine app.

On the oil I use RP 10w30. It is quieter than with the mobil 1 10w30 on mine. For the trans, go back to the gear oil Dodge specs. It doesnt shift as good, but it's quieter. The code says evap/pinched hose maybe?

Mobile1 15-50(5qt jugs at Walmart) and a white Viper filter from the dealer, pretty much the best combo for warm/hot climate and quieter engine. For a quieter trans you can go back to the factory fill Castrol Syntorc I believe(says on side of trans), I use RedLine D4 synthetic ATF but it is noisier. Not sure on the evap code.......Hope some of this helps with your decision.....

The Castrol Syntorq factory fill is designed exactly for noise quitening of the gears and bearings as its more of a heavy weight gear oil versus the ATF many of us switch to which is the consistency of oil. It seems to make shifting tougher especially in cold climates. I like Mobil1 Synthetic ATF personally as well as Mobil1 15/50 oil.
110,000 miles of DD and hundreds of track passes and Mexico runs later and shes still a beast.

OK so I should go with the factory spec Castrol Syntorq for the transmission and Mobil 1 15w50 for the engine then?

What about that bigger oil filter I remember reading about?
