Is there an easy way to tell when series engine you have?

I only ask because I recently brought a idle control valve and the dealership said that the part number I had given them (from the original idle control valve) was from a engine that was not put in our trucks until 3-4 months later? He gave me the correct part no, but as this one came off the truck I went with the same.

Build date
2/10/2004

Thoughts? is the valve interchangeable? Same wiring plug?

I'll help with what I can...

The engine you have is:
8.3L
V10
Internal Combustion

As strange as it seems, you are the first in 12 years to ask that question.

Seriously though...

I cannot imaging Dodge changing the wiring harness for an IAC.

I thought the IAC in our trucks is the same on many others?

There are two types IAC of he said and mine should have being the older one?

Physically they coukd be exact and the difference could be internal in the way of voltages or how the version of the pcm flash communicates with it. Either way it seems the parts guy is thorough...
