I need to order sims (because of cat removal)... currently the red light is on (although I haven't figured out how to check the error code).... Question is... does it effect how the truck runs?? Seems kinda sluggish:dontknow: ...

Did you disconnect the battery when you took the pipes out? I believe you need to do that to clear the pcm memory. Mine didnt feel sluggish. Could be something else too.

Did you do the key trick to find the # of the error code?

patrick

well... here's what I did
1: removed the cats... added 3.5 all the way back
#no light yet
2: installed PCM and TSTAT <with battery disconnected a few times>
#light came on
3: I turned the key on off several times... lol... all it says is done

<shrug>

I read somewhere in one of REDSRT's posts... about open or closed something or other.... I didn't really understand it... but seems to me if you have an error code... it could change what the computer does??

<shrug>

I think ANY OBDII system is this way. I could be totally wrong. This is how it was on my GM a few years ago. Anytime the SES (CEL) is thrown, it pulls timing, kinda puts the vehicle in "safe-mode"

Thats weird. So the light came on after you installed the pcm/t stat. Turning the key to the on off postion three times in a row, that should show the code. Thats weird that it doesnt and the word done comes up.

Hopefully Redsrt will chime in here.

YEAH, I hope that's what's going on.... because I don't think I'm getting the benefit of the PCM... because of the error code....

Patrick... I doubt that when they removed the cats... they disconnected the battery... that might explain why I didn't get the red light to come up until I did the PCM install

now, I gotta get the sims...

All cels cause the computer to go into safe mode some what. The emitions code your throwing is causeing the compuer to rich the truck out, causing a loss of power...

I hope so...:dontknow: ... I figured it'd be the check engine light on ... and not that little red light.....

I'll call boomer and add some simms to the list of stuff I need from him :D

i thought that the little red light was to 'scare' bugulars away from the truck
:rofl: but seriously what is the light for?

Yeah that's what the manual says too <shrug> I never did get the error code to say anything but Done....

I'm a frickin newb

The o2 sensor codes will not put your computer in limp mode. I ran mine with the headers and a check engine light at the track and it's never run faster!

p.s. I ran 13.8 with the cats on.

13.5? my rc ran that fast at lacr.... stock :p was it your check engine light?? or the stupid little red light??

I thought that open loop closed loop effected how your engine ran.... and that loop was effected by error codes <Shrug>

uhhh i don't even understand what i just said... wtf :dontknow:

well, my roomate's stock RC only ran 14.2 at LACR so I'm guessing your truck is one of the "fast" ones! we ran in winter time too so hear wasn't an issue.

that was with the check engine light on, not the RED light.

yeah, a: that's an lacr corrected time b: that's why my clutch was toast when I traded it in... it ran a 13 flat with my vec2 in it

so which light goes on when you have an error code?? the little red light or the check engine light??? now i'm more confuzed... my red light came on ... never saw the check engine light come on .....

I just realized your CEL didnt come on, just some red light.:confused: That must be why the key trick didnt work.

Thats weird. We need Stingray to chime in............he's the tech guy.

heh yeah... I dunno wtf is up with that red light.... I've driven over 50 miles... so I guess I don't need to worry about sims.... just need to figure out wtf that red light is for...

depends on the codes. removing your cats is going to through a cat efficiency code. will not cause the vehicle run any different.
