Well I figured out the answer thanks to having a shi**y start to my Monday. After my tire got a mysterious hole in the side wall I had to deal with putting the spare on, and from the first turn with the spare on I knew the answer why we have 22" wheels. Ever tried stomping on it with a spare? Ever tried turning with a spare? Well if you have been unfortunate enough you know that the spare has POOR traction and has a very small "bite" on the road. You can literally bring the tread life on a spare down to 50% in one light to the next..Forget about turning (you will need another spare for your original you just burned off) but for real you can't even make a normal turn onto a road without the tire having at least a slight peal out....I knew there had something to do with more than just looks of a 22":burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

I'm sure I could make it happen with 2 spares...I just have that type of mindset...as soon as I bolted it on and started er' up my first thought was "I wonder how bad this thing would burn from a dead stop?" and you can bet your ass I found out the answer to that (like 25 times), especially since I don't give a damn about a spare ....lol

That pic was taken last fall and the smell just recently went away........or I just got used to it!:D

Why would you drive like you normally do with a spare on? Looks like you need to get a 5th OEM wheel and tire as a spare.

Trust me I didn't want to drive with the spare especially as damn ugly as that thing is, but I had no choice bc I have a driving job that needed to be finished and the tire also was not stocked at any local tire shops...had to be ordered for today, $215 later....I'm going to get it in a hour!

I had the exact same thing happen to me last week. Blew a quarter size hole in the side wall. $202 + shipping for new pirelli.

Yeah, but you..... You asked if anyone tried stomping on it with a spare on. That made me think you were driving as if your tires were all 22's.

yup the spare does suck all rams with 20 have then the goodyears are POS we put my old 20s on my buddys 2001 dodge and those thing turn over so easy with that lil 360 its crazy how bad of traction they have
