Not sure if there is a ticket for this but I seem to be guilty of it all the time. Had to work on Sat as we are moving our office to our new building. Well I drove the hot rod there and found the street empty. In first gear clutch out at about 3k rpms I nailed it, spun the tires nicely, then parked it. Looking back on the road I noticed some twin black lines a car length long!:D Man I love this truck!!!!:burnout:  Seems like everytime I drive my truck it puts that grin on my face!!:D You just gotta love it!

Sometimes it's like a demon wants to take a hold of me when I drive it, I have to keep telling myself "With great power comes great responsibility" :D :burnout:

Just because it all fits INSIDE a tuna can doesn't mean it's as thick as one.

and the tuna can comment.....i dont think i laughed like that since i was a little girl!

The ticket is called exibition of speed and acceleration and it is almost as many points against your license as a DUI. Not worth it. Don't get caught...ever.

here in jersey its $250 per square foot of blackmark. really dont wanna get caught :D

Patrick- this is all I could find regarding points in Hawaii:

The Hawaii Point System (from http://www.onlinetrafficschoolguide.com/hi-hawaii/driving_laws.html )

(a) In accordance with Hawaii driving law, there is established a point system for the evaluation of the operating records of all persons operating motor vehicles and for the determination of the continuing qualifications of such persons to operate motor vehicles

The system shall have as its basic element a graduated scale of points assigning relative values to the various violations of Hawaii traffic laws and of traffic ordinances of its counties to be imposed by the district judge in accordance with the following schedule of minimum and maximum points:

  • Driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor - 4 to 8
  • Reckless driving - 3 to 6
  • Driving while license suspended or revoked (includes court conviction as well as safety responsibility violations) - 3 to 6
  • Fraudulent use of license - 3 to 6
  • Excessive speeding (fifteen miles or more over the established speed limit) - 3 to 6
  • Leaving scene of accident - 3 to 6
  • Speeding (ten miles or more over the established speed limit)- 1 to 4
  • Failure to report accident immediately - 1 to 4
  • Driving on left side of roadway - 0 to 4
  • Inattention to driving; negligent driving - 1 to 4

There's no mention of points ANYWHERE in the 164-page HI Drivers License Manual.
The only thing remotely close was this from page 28 regarding speed limits:
"You must not engage in any race, speed contest, or speed exhibition of any kind on a public street or highway."
It's not entirely clear on what the definition of 'speed exhibition' is.

IRONY: The Hawaii Traffic Laws link from their DOT page is broken:
http://www.state.hi.us/dot/highways/adminrules/TRFCINDX.HTM
Kinda funny (and a possible defense! LOL)

My suggestion: Next time you speak with one of your fine local officers, ask him or her, "What tickets do you hand out to all the ricers doing burn-outs in the mall parking lots?"
:)
