I want to paint the stacks on my truck. they are chrome now.

q1. can i paint over chrome if i rough it up first?
q2. anyone painted exhaust tips with anything other than powder? they are 10" stacks so the dont get real hot. but i want to paint them flat black, any suggestions? is there somethin i can buy at an auto store besides header paint?

If you want it done right, gonna last, and stay looking good...best thing to do is have the chrome stripped and have them powder coated. IMO

Yup. I was going to say that.

I painted the tips on my truck with engine enamel. Scuffed it up, then laid down several coats of black and a few coats of clear. Then turned on the truck to let the pipes heat up and cure it a little.

Batram painted his, using methods mentioned above. Don't think he's had any issues.
