i know this Question has been asked and asked over and over and over again
i know that i have asked my self i think twice but i need to ask again

i have been thu 8 exhaust systems - in the spring i plan on redoing my exhaust, .... after i get the O2 problem i have corrected and the new fuse box installed and gauges finished up ( thanks tony ) shifter put back in and the NOS completed

my Question is - wat would be the best setup for my truck and sound like a muscle truck - they way it should sound

my truck now sounds like a getto UPS truck

i want it LOUD and sounding good at the same time

any suggestions would be GREAT

i know there a few of you that will tell me to look in the sound clip section and decide for my self - but sounds can only tell you wat the cam records not at WOT

thanks for your time,...

oh - i am told that i sould put back on the cat's if i want a good sounding truck

is this true

and i want to get the best performance out of it as well

thanks

You are gonna get 40 million opinions....;) ........leave the cats off for both sound and performance.........spread the exhaust tips to both sides of the rear bumper.....I use a Magnaflow muffler but others will work...IMO this setup sounds more V-8 than any I have heard.....completely changes the sound when you spread out the exhaust tips..

Eight exhaust systems and your still not happy? Sounds to me like you have more invested in this area than most here. If your looking for that rumble a V-8 can give you, I think you may be pissing in the wind. From the sounds of things you been doing alot of pissing, After 8 tries i just do not know who would know better than you. Exotic 10 vs V-8 rumble.:dontknow:

I can give you what you need viper

take whatever exhaust you have , off the muffler add turn downs, straight to the ground , dont cost nothing hardly, jsut try this , an see how ya like it, makes a big differnence;)

i dont mind the Exotic 10 sound - it's at WOT i am not happy with, and now that i removed the cat's it sounds liks crap so it needs to be redone

but hey you know me ill try ne thing once

Yikes, 8 exhausts. :( I feel for you. I hate to say it but by the sounds of it, you could have got yourself a Billy Boat and been done. I did my research (as you have/are) and this was be far the DEEPEST exhaust out there and still is. I have always admitted I hate tinny sounding rice pipes, they don't suit the trucks. Anyhow, the deeper you go, the more "V8" it will flow. ;) I love my B&B as does everyone else who runs it in their trucks. Not cheap but, it won't fall apart at the welds and will give you what you want the first time. That's my opinion anyhow. I run long tubes, catless mids and full exhaust. Good luck!

Cheers!

has anyone thought getting some used tubis or other exhaust that are for the high end exotics to make their viper sound more exotic.

thats all valvetrain and cam timing friend, but yes I looked at a set of lambo mufflers for a future project

well i know these motors wont sound like a ferrari or lambo due to they test the motor in a sound rooms to get the right note plus the flat cranks of ferraris.

Eight setups, wow. What parts/systems/combination have you tried that you don't like? Personally, I selected a Mopar catback. It was the best value, sounding and durable system I found. B&B is also great if you have coin. Does mine sound like a V-8? Nope. Sorry I couldn't help resolve what you're after.

I'll try and get s new clip posted but I have been through the same thing as has Wade (Tooloe) and I am finally happy with mine ( for now I think)! I used 2 Mac 3" in/out Mustang/Gto/Vette Mufflers and pretty much loved it as well as the Viper Side exhaust mod, but after a few months of driving it and picking at the notes in certain RPMS I didn't like I decided an H-pipe was needed. I did this and am much, much happier with the note all thru the rpm range. My theory was I was hearing a 5 cylinder out of each side and it was horrible at alot of lower RPMs but above idle. By using an H-pipe I believe I increased substantially the scavenging effect of exhaust and blending to two exhaust notes together prior to the muffler. It now has a deep Lambo/Viper sound. with no popping or raspiness as I can't stand either. Actually I forgot there is a sound clip of this past weekend but they are in cab. Here's the link!
