Exterior Paint Help - DIY'ers?!

Well, Jenn and I are going to attempt to paint the outside of our house, and we are looking form some paint advice. I have talked to a couple people, but would like to get other reviews / opinions who are in the field.

I am going with a Semi-Gloss Latex Exterior in a gray-ish / silver-ish color.

I am looking mainly for brands you would recommend

Here is 2006's consumer reports:

Best paints --

California Fresh Coat Velvet (flat), Glidden Endurance (semigloss), Pratt & Lambert Accolade Eggshell (flat) and Glidden Endurance Satin (low luster) and , Glidden Spread-Dura (gloss) [a best buy], Glidden Spread-Dura Satin (low luster) [a best buy]

Worst paints --

Glidden Evermore (flat), True Value Weather All (semigloss) McCloskey </I>Multiuse (low luster) , ALL Benjamin Moore paints.
Note: Care must be taken to select exactly the right Glidden paint. Some are rated best, some worst.
Pittsburg, and Devoe paints weren't rated.

the "Glidden Endurance (semigloss)" is not sold @ home depot...only the lower grade one is. I would have to go to a paint store it get that specific one.

I was told Frazee is top of the line also....

My issues with a few houses have been being able to find that same brand of paint and same color years down the road (say 6-10 years). Yes, you can color match but not perfectly every time.

Pay a few extra bucks for the premium paint in whatever brand you go with.

I have used Glidden and had good results.

I have had great luck with McCormick house paints.

Also don't paint over oil base paints with Latex or vice versa.

Don't paint with Latex if it is cold out.

Just stained a new deck yesterday. Stain stick saves your back and times. They do have a paint stick at Lowes.

You can almost tell the quality by wieght..........all paints use titanium oxide as a base (it is white) the better the product the more T.O. is used. this equates to better coverage.......our .03 cents

I bought mine because the rental and the cost to buy worked out to be about the same price with everything I was doing.

IMO, prep is key here..When I used to paint houses, we would use a good grade of oil based primer, and then 2-3 coats of oil based on top. We painted alot of high end houses, and alot of old houses..like from the 1700s...Devoe, and Benny Moore are good stuff..
A sprayer can make a hell of a mess in a hurry if you dont know what you are doing...I have seen many a painted tree, bush, etc in my day..lol.Purdy brushes are all I ever used..
What is the siding on the house?..Wood?..Metal Siding? T-111?..Glass?...lol

4 walls..single story. 3 of the walls (sides and back) are stucco....and front is a wood-overlap-siding type. Not sure if its real wood or not though....

Built 1992

All paint is in good condition, no chipping or peeling; its just faded and ugly color.
