External Oil cooler

I have been thinking of putting together a external oil cooler.
Pro's and con's?
Recommendations?

What's the point? Our heat exchanger serves the purpose well, other than leak all over the place before replacing the lines.

I think it actually warms the oil. tolerances are tight ! engine needs consistant viscosity. just my 2 cents

The reason I was thinking of replacing it was I didn't want to reuse it on a fresh motor. Dodge wants 277$ for a new one and I can build and external on for about 100$.

Wel if that's the case, go for it. I've personally never had oil temps that concerned me so I just think that adding a larger cooler and hoses to reach would be wasteful and just add cost at oil change intervals as well.

The exchanger is there to help heat up the oil using the coolant. Excessive heat is more related to less than ideal cooling system not oil system. The exchanger is a big plus on our trucks the radiator struggles to shed heat when pushed. Money is far better spent upgrading the cooling system if you have heat problems.

Could also flush out the current oil cooler. Feel free to use a lot of Amsoil during the flush, you know were you can get that
