Only got 2 clean runs in before having problems.
Run # 1, temp was 82 degrees, DA was 2277', 60' 1.62, 1/4 mile 11.33 @ 122.5. Car would stumble real bad between shifts, which it never does on the street when I full power shift @ 6600 rpm. For some reason it only does this at Famoso. More on this later.
Run# 2, temp was 86 degrees, DA was 2552', 60' 1.58 (my best ever, previous best was 1.62) car was launching real good. I was happy with the aluminum flywheel, no bog at all, and NO tire slip at all, I may have been able to use even more rpm than the 4000 rpm launch I was using. 1/4 mile time 11.22 @ 123.1.
I tried 2 more runs during the day, although there was a long wait before my next runs, as it was Mega Mopar weekend and they had classes to run. Both runs 3 & 4 were identical: I launched real good, pulled the full power shift from 1st to 2nd gear and then engine shut down into "Reduced Engine Power" mode. Hard to figure unless the IAT's were so high that the computer shut me down.
I was real disappointed with the results, but the DA was terrible, so I guess I will wait till Nov. 8-9 Test and Tune for better air. I was real encouraged with the Dyno results from Saturday with the new changes. We removed the Ported LSA TB, Airaid CAI, and lower 9.55 pulley (and stock upper). Installed a Ported Snout, 102 TB, GForce 4.5 intake, smaller lower and a 2.38 upper. Boost went up about a pound from 12.5 to 13.5 at peak. Car made about 609 rwhp with real mild timing and 91 octane. Drives real good on the street. Added straight 109 fuel on Saturday and an aggressive tune. Power was unbelievable for just an LS9 cam, stocks block and heads, 1 7/8 Kooks, Catless X, and stock muffler....car is real quiet...such a sleeper. 3 runs back to back on the Dyno netted 665 rwhp, 670 rwhp, and 667 rwhp. Maybe the tune was just a bit aggressive for the hot temps on Sunday. AF was at 11.8.
My tuner (Jim at Cal Speed) found that there were some torque management areas where the computer can shut down timing if torque or boost gets too high. That may be the problem at the strip between shifts ( a boost spike between shifts), although it never does it on the street. I'm confused, any helpful advice would be appreciated. So hopefully all will work out in November and I'll be the 3rd 6-speed manual in the 10's.
