I just realizes I didn't post my results from the last Test and Tune. I've been really busy as I recently decided to come out of retirement (since 2005) and apply for a job. I have never been a car salesman, but since I like cars (and trucks) I thought I would apply at the local Cadillac/Chevrolet dealership. I didn't know if they would hire a 67 year old that had NO experience at selling cars.....but they did! I started 3 weeks ago and have already sold 3 cars. Anyway I forgot to post the last test and tune results for the truck.....and it ran good.....I set a new best speed for the SRT-10 at Famoso. Previous best speed was 118.01 and now the new best is 118.13! Also posted the best ever corrected time for the truck, I don't ever claim the corrected time as real time, but it is interesting to look at. Here are my results:
Run 1: 11:41 am, 60' 1.627, 1/8th mile 7.554 @ 88.36mph, 1/4 mile time 11.863 @ 115.70mph. Truck was on a real good pass but due to a very RARE driver error I lost a little time. As I was accelerating in 3rd gear I was resting my hand on the shifter a little to hard, and as I was watching the Tach approach 5,500 (getting ready to shift @ 6,000) I accidently popped the shifter into neutral....Damn! I had to clutch real fast and grab 4th, but I lost a little time.
Run 2: 2pm, DA 1874', 60' 1.659, 1/8th mile 7.492 @ 95.73mph, 1/4 mile 11.678 @ 118.13mph (new top speed for me at famoso) This is also my best corrected pass of all time (previous best 11.43) Corrected time [email protected].
Run 3:4:30 pm, 60' 1.589!, 1/8th mile 7.458 @ 88.02, 1/4 mile 11.687 @ 116.33mph.
On a side note, I thought that it was unusual that the 2 passes in the left lane (run 1 & 3) had a very low speed at the 1/8th, and the right lane was 7.71 mph faster when comparing runs 2 & 3 speeds at the 1/8th mile (95.73 vs 88.02) as both passes were very clean and within .009 seconds of each other in the 1/4 mile time.
The first 2 passes I was at about 4,000 rpm on the launch, and had no spin at all, the launch felt real good, not much bog. On the 3rd pass I got more aggressive and raised the rpm to about 4,500 and felt it spin (felt like a lot), but low and behold I had the best 60' of the day. Tomorrow at the Test and Tune I will again try the aggressive launch in the cool morning pass (hopefully DA below 1,000') and see what happens.
