I was afraid the tires were gonna break loose at the line if I took it above 2500. It just sucks to think that I may have a low 14 second truck.TNVIPER said:Hurt my neck reading your slips...............If you could get your 60' under 2.0 you would see 8.XX.....
If it was a stick shift, I wouldn't be so worried. But, Being an automatic, I can't do much but play with launching rpm. And, like I said, I don't think it will go much more than 3000 rpm. The truck feels like it's running fine. A/F ratio is around 12.0 - 12.3 through the entire run. I don't think there's much more that I can do performance wise without going F.I. Like I said, any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.TNVIPER said:This your 1st trip to the track being timed?....if so just be patient you will get better......and tracks vary too....you might run easy 13s on another track...
I don't know Jack. But, if he beats me, I my never here the end of it.FATJACK said:No sweat Steve, you should still be ahead of Viperqueen!!!

What RPM are you launching at? Basically, I stage, put my foot on the brake, hold the rpm at 2500 and mash the gas on the last yellow. Any other tips?outnumbered said:I ran consistent 8.3's with similar mods on street tires. Your 60' would indicate you are being a little too easy off the line. Thanks for the response. Truck has 21000 miles all the fluids have been changed in the last 1000 miles. It was at the trans shop about 1000 miles ago, to rinstall the upgraded gm solenoid and they said the band adjustment was good. The tranny seemed to be shifting good.ViperPowa said:It could be the DA which makes a HUGE difference, especially if your at higher elevation. I had a day like that back when my truck was stock.
Our track is only 38 feet above sea level, but with the temps being so hot and humid combined with low barometric pressure, the DA was almost 1800 feet. 2 passes and couldn't break out of the 14's that day, ended up with a best of 14.008@99 which for that DA would calc back to a 13.7@101. The DA makes a real big difference and can make or break the times your aiming for.
You should be cutting a 1.8 easy with those drag radials, running somewhere in the mid 8's, and trapping over 80mph.
-Check what the DA was
-How much miles on the truck? Could be it's time for you to change tranny oil and filter and rear end oil, maybe even adjust bands and check sol.
Do you notice the tranny shifting softer, or a hesitant 2-3 shift?
Goto this page and type in the info for your track, find the time of day you ran, with that you can get your DA for the time on thier page and calc back to give you an idea on how the DA affected your runs.
