First 1/8 mile times. Not happy

Steve, did you have the Tow/Haul button pressed on the shifter?????? From what I have heard that will make a good bit of difference.

You have GOT to beat Dan or WE will never hear the end of it for the QCs..... :)

Your not going to get any good times in Homestead (the track has no prep for higher launch rpms). In Palm Beach you should be able to get to 3500 rpm maybe even higher and not have the tires break loose. Last time I was in Palm Beach I was launching at 4500 and I was bogging off the line and still managed to to pull a 1.7 - 60ft.

What's a safe power brake launch RPM? I could try to go higher next time I'm out there. I also don't want to break something in the tranny. I thought I read somewhere that the auto tranny's have issues when power braking at the line. I'm really out there to have fun. But, I also want to be somewhat competitive. And a 14 second truck is not really that competitive.

I tried it both ways Chief and it really made no difference. I think that would make more of a difference at a quarter mile track. I'm not worried about Dan.:) He's running 8.8's and I'm sure it's no where near as humid as it is here. So his 8.8's should be close to my 9.0 - 9.1 in my nasty humid weather that we have here. And Holt should be pretty close to our conditions here.:rock: It should be a good race. Plus Jack already said I could borrow his truck.:D

When people here have hurt their rearends its been during the burnouts while power braking (peg legging it kills the spider gears). That's what happened to me. After I put the line lock no more worries.

What is the line lock you are talking about? I have read of it before but no idea what it is.

When you're power braking doing your burnout in the water box one of the tires stops spinning (VERY VERY) BAD for the rearend thus "peg legging". If you use a line lock only the front brakes lock and allows the tires to spin freely without any stress from the rear brakes.

Line Lock basically allows you to lock the front brakes only so that you do your burnout without tearing up your rearend from the stresses of power braking.

I thought the same thing. I actually just finished meeting BlackViper (George) that day and was on my way to meet the wife for lunch.
 
Here's a couple videos showing the back tires. I'm launching between 2000 - 2500 RPM. It's hard to tell if they're spinning. But it seemed to hook hard. Don't laugh at the trurbo deisel beating me please.:D That trunk runs hard.:dontknow:

I'm pressing the brakes and holding the gas at around 2000 - 2500 RPM.
