Here are my first dyno runs of my QC at 10lbs of boost. The truck has more left in it. I will be doing another run next week. During the dyno run and as recorded by the VEC 3, at 4400 rpm it had 10 lbs of boost. At 5300 rpm, the boost level had fallen off to 5.5lbs. After the run, we discovered that one of the vacuum lines had blown off. I spoke with Sean and he said that since the PCM & VEC could no longer read manifold pressure I was down on boost, fuel and the timing would have been retarded..

Since the runs, I have secured all the vacuum lines and I am replacing the idler pulley to add some more tension on the belt. At this time, in addition to the vacuum line issue this is also suspect.

I believe a perfect run would net somewhere around 630 to 650 RWHP.

Maybe more than 650...looking forward to your next pull!

But very strong now!

Whooop, Whooop, Whooop!

A/F looks a little high for 10psi. I don't know about you I wouldn't feel to comfortable driving around with that A/F on a boosted motor. Just my .02.

:dito: ...You might want to talk to Roe about the A/F George...I think he tries to keep it around 11.8...........did he make a new VEC card for you?

you're running way too lean. yea it makes more power, but BOOM in no time.

drop the a/f to 12:1 or lower.

Sean and I discussed the AF but at this point it is a mute issue. Because the vacuum line blew off it changed how the Vec and PCM compensated for the boost. I believe I should do another pull to get a true baseline then modify the software as needed. We both agreed it needs more fuel. I will be doing another pull next week and go from there. Hopefully and optimisticly it will be close to 650 RWHP.

I have a question. Will getting a set of ported heads increase cylinder pressure or just increase the motor's efficiancy? Will they create additional stress on the already on the ragged edge stock internals?

I've been researching building the bottom end of the motor. It seems that nobody makes a stock replacement rod for the GEN3 other than Oliver and the don't know if they will be making them again till sometime in late January. I didn't want to get into turning down the crank and having custom pistons made. Any thoughts?

I hope you hit 650+ George since I hope to see the same..;) ....I was just today discussing with my dealer's Jaguar tech about how ported heads affect boost..He has had a lot of experience with blown motors...he said the ported heads often reduce boost pressure because air if flowing freer into the cylinders...and probably increasing cylinder pressure....

Consider turning the crank...not a big deal and opens the door to all kinds of off the shelf pistons and rods....but whatever you do you had better be easy on that engine with present boost levels..or you may be replacing pistons & rods involuntarily...:(

Hopefully the tune will keep it together until I decide what I'm doing with the internals. I think Sean is keeping it alive with the tune. I can't say enough about his customer support.

Chad, I'd like to get it on the dyno and tuned correctly before I make it out to Moroso. Getting it right before an 11 or 12 second pass is going to be critical on stock internals.
