First Trip to Track w/New SRT10 QC

I made no runs in tow/haul mode. On my previous truck/'04 QC Hemi that didn't help the runs at the track so I didn't even consider it tonight. Suggestion?

As for launch rpm, to be honest I didn't look. On my previous truck I had a stall converter and drag radials and was very sensitive to launch rpm. I'm not yet at a point of having to consider it on this truck but will get there. The first run was from idle. The second from slightly above but I'd guess below 1000rpm. Just guessing, 3rd and 4th were probably no lower than 1200 rpm but no higher than 1400. Traction was a problem. A lot of folks early in the night were having problems off the line. I didn't push it. I accomplished what I wanted tonight. Next trip I'll push a little more.

I am interested in comments/experience using the tow/haul mode at the track.

Thanks......................

Did the truck shift into OD prior to the end of the 1/4? If it did then T/H would keep it in 3rd longer. I load my RPM's between 1500-2500 depending on the track. 3rd yellow I creep off the brake in roll into the throttle. If I give it to much gas I spin, not enough and the truck shifts out of first too early and then shifts back after I got WOT. Another trick that seems to help this is to place the truck in 1st. One I'm going real good I throw it up into D. You also could drop your tire PSI some more, try 25. BTW you had good trap speeds for a stock QC.

Yeah, but I would get over zealous and go right past Drive and right into Neutral! .... I KNOW I would. :(

I didn't get into overdrive on the runs. On launch I was getting into the throttle quick enough that it didn't do any of the shift to 2 then back to 1 cycles. I'd practiced enough on the street to realize that could be a problem at the track if I didn't get into the throttle reasonably hard and quick. I'll take the back tires down to 25 after I get to the track next time and see if I can hook up a little better. I'll also do some testing with attention to rpms at launch. Eventually I'll get traction bars and slicks (probably for next Fall) but I'd really like to get a sub-2.0 60' time on stockers.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm very pleased with the first time to the track. Minimum hope was sub-14 and 100+mph.....busted both consistently and solidly.

I did that once. On that video of me racing the L that was posted a little while back. You can hear me throw it into Neutral.

I have been able to get 1.8 60's on the stockers. I also did a good burnout which seemed to help.

NICE RUNS..... PUT SOME MODS AND YOU ARE GOING TO FLY.... PROBABLY HIGHT 12'S:rock:

well I was there last night at HRP and seen the runs. I also watched the black rc make a few. I did not take my SRT out because we were doing some testing on a customers truck. It was the silver Lightning running mid 10's. anyway sorry for not meeting you last night as we were very busy, but if you need anything and want to keep it local swing by or call us 281.557.2874 or www.psimotorsprts.com

SVTFreak, I kept looking for your truck. Glad I didn't miss it. I did see a coupld of silver and a dark blue Lightning running quite a bit. I made my first run at 5:50 and turned out of the track at 7:54. Other than letting the truck set and cool for an hour plus again in hopes of beating the 13.39 it didn't seem like the air was going to get any better. Whenever the next good weather night after I get my exhaust on I'm heading back to run some more. Hope you had a good time. I was there with my wife, then my brother and his family showed up for a while on their way into town for Christmas, plus a friend of mine from work was there with his '98 Camaro trying for his first sub-12. He posted a 11.499.

Later...........

Nice runs. I wish I was at sea-level, the only 2 qc's that I have seen run up here were running 15.0 - 15.1's all day.. 8000 ft kills us.. Mine should run in the low 14's with my Stage II and exhaust as I can now hold hands with my dad when I have raced him against his SRT-8 Charger.. They will run 14.6's stock up here. I can actually pull him by almost 1 full length up to 80 or so and by 95ish we are dead even. I would like to race him again as I only had 980 miles on it and now I am at almost 3K..
