Was thinking about painting my truck flat black. My truck is getting higher in miles and the paint is starting to get my scuffs and light scraches. Was wondering if there is a difference between matte black and satin black? and witch one looks better. pictures of the two would help out alot. how much would it cost for the paint and labor? any information would help out.

Matte is flatter than Satin. Satin is flatter than semi gloss. Flat is the flattest with 0-5% gloss then comes Matte, then eggshell, then Satin, then semi-gloss. I'd say you'd be looking at around $5-8K to get a decent job. :D

For about $700 you can buy the 3m vinyl in flat black and do it yourself. I'm thinking about doing it to my g8. Cost me about $600 since it smaller.

Go with the 3m vinyl. Very durable and you can do it yourself. YouTube has all kinds of videos showing how to install. Takes a little time but looks badass!

I personally think flat/satin/matte colors are bad ass. Black has been overdone, in my opinion. Did you think of looking into any other flat colors?? Another big thing is wrapping the entire truck in a different color vinyl, which is a cool idea for a lot less $$$ and if you don't like it any more just peel it off, just a thought.

They also have satin and other colors! This place near my house does ferraris and Lamborghinis in it. Saw them do a corvette in all chrome. Looked sick!

Flat is a hard paint to make look good imo. I have 8 coats on my truck now. The vinyl is a great alternative. Also if you do plan on painting it, go with a matte clear coat... trust me... it will be 100x's easier to clean than without a clear coat.

Thanks for all the info. i think ill look into the vinly wrap i actually have a friend that does that for a living and never even thought to looking into that. I thought that you could tell that it was a vinly and didnt look that good. im guessing i was wrong? anybody have a idea at how much a wrap would cost?

No better person to ask than your friend, instead of us guessing.

My brother just looked into doing his porsche and it was $2000. Sounded expensive to me so I'm sure you can get it done cheaper.

it's around 2-3k to professionally wrap a car... half to 1/3 the cost of a real paint job...

you could buy several can of Plasti-dip spray and do the whole truck to see if you will like it first on your own ride. then just peel it all back off. I think Dan did this to someone as a joke once???

Murdered,
Your paint job is the baddest that I have ever seen! If I were going to go flat, I would want it to look like yours. Anything less would not look right.
Amazing job!!!
